This poor guy LEROY A2404946 came in after being found TETHERED to a FENCE and left there!!!! WHY? Let's help him find a decent human who he can TRUST!!! Right now he's leery of most humans and well we can't blame him.

Leroy A404946 is 2 years old, intact male, 38lbs, who came in after being found tethered to a chain link fence. He has allowed handling but has also not social with his handlers. He does have poor kennel presence as well. Leroy needs someone who has the time to give him so he can learn how to trust & build confidence. If you can help him, please let us know.

09/04/24 Leroy was brought to the play yards by a staff member while Wellness staff was in the yard with a male and female dog. Leroy greeted both dogs with very stiff body posture, high flagging tail, tense face, ears forward, high on his toes, and hard stared at them. He continued to hard stare as staff pulled him away and out of the catch pen.

8/28/2024 As staff member approached Leroy's kennel, he had a wagging tail and relaxed body posture. He was easy to leash and exited with no issue. He pulled towards dogs being reactive towards him but was easily redirected. Once in the yard, he walked around on the leash with his tail high. He sniffed around the yard to relieve himself and continued to wander. He accepted pets from his handler and another supervisor for a short period of time and slowly began to eat the treats he neglected. Leroy approached a staff member who was behind a fenced yard and Leroy bared his teeth and raised his tail. As staff member pulled him away, he easily let go of the situation and went back to sniffing around the yard with his tail still raised. Once it was time to return to his kennel, Leroy walked well on the way back to the kennel and was returned with no issues.

8/27/24 Staff member approached the kennel door with treats and was met with a wagging tail and loose body posture. He sat for treats and took them without hesitation. Leroy pressed his head against the kennel and received affection from the staff member. When the staff member was finished. Leroy whined and pawed at the kennel, seeking more affection from the staff member.

8/21/24 Dog had to be removed from his kennel to have his guillotine fixed. Dog greeted staff member at the kennel with a raised tail and stiff body posture. The dog gave the other staff member present a lunge and a growl until called by another staff member to refocus on the door. Staff member was able to leash the dog and pull him outside the kennel as the other staff member began fixing the guillotine. The dog waited patiently and was then returned into the kennel. Staff member used a metal hook to retrieve their leash.
