A Eucharistic community of disciples guided by the Holy Spirit to “Courageously Live the Gospel"

Photos from St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church's post 07/23/2024

Our God, the creator of all things, is physical. Tangible. Flesh and Blood. He is here, on earth, in the Eucharist.

The 10th National Eucharistic Congress was certainly a new Pentecost. Catholic speakers exhorted the throng of pilgrims, preaching the Gospel and reality of our Eucharistic Lord with passion and strength. Thousands of religious brothers and sisters, priests, and laity from all walks of life adored and consumed Christ in the flesh. Over 60,000 total pilgrims traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana, and about 53,000 pilgrims walked with Jesus in procession through the streets of the city.

This congress marks a turning point in the history of the church in the United States. Rather than being the “end” of the National Eucharistic Revival, this is really a beginning.

We can’t remain unchanged by the reality of the Eucharist. It is truly the Body and Blood of Christ, as our Lord himself says: “For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink” (John 6:55). This demands a response. We must allow ourselves to be transformed by His Body and His love.

As the body of Christ, we must now go out, be sent, and tell all nations about the reality of our Lord. We must be bold, be courageous, and be heroic. We must follow the example of the apostles and the saints. The faith must be shared, because the Eucharist is too sweet a food to be kept to ourselves.

All of the main talks and content from the National Eucharistic Congress can be found in a playlist on EWTN’s YouTube channel here:

Happy Feast of St. Benedict, Abbot!

Today, we honor St. Benedict, the "Father of Western Monasticism," whose wisdom and guidance have shaped the spiritual lives of countless individuals over the centuries. Through his Rule of St. Benedict, he taught us the importance of balancing prayer and work in our daily lives.

St. Benedict’s motto, "Ora et Labora" ("Pray and Work"), challenges us to live our faith fully, authentically, and to integrate it into every moment of our lives. His commitment to community, hospitality, and humility is a beacon for all who seek a deeper relationship with God.

St. Benedict, pray for us! 🙏

🎆🎊Happy Independence Day!🎊🎆

Today, we celebrate the birth of our great nation and the freedoms we hold dear. As we enjoy the festivities, let us also take a moment to reflect on the values that make America special.

In the spirit of our Catholic faith, we remember the words of St. John Paul II: "Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought." Let us use our freedom to serve others, to promote justice, and to build a society that reflects God's love and mercy.

Please note that our Parish Office will be closed today and tomorrow in observance of the national holiday. We will reopen on Monday, July 8th.

Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and joyful 4th of July! 🎆🙏

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, famously known as 'Doubting Thomas.' His journey from doubt to faith serves as a powerful reminder that questioning can lead to a deeper understanding and stronger belief in our faith. Let us honor his legacy by embracing our own faith journey, with all its questions and revelations.

✝️Join us in welcoming Fr. Drew, who begins at St. Catherine of Siena this week!✝️

"My name is Fr. Drew Woodke! I was born and raised in Brandon, and received all of my sacraments at Nativity Catholic Church. I grew up playing all the typical team sports, but focused on cross country, track and basketball in high school. I am also an avid sports fan! My professional teams are the Bucs, Lightning, and Rays. For college I cheer for Florida, Notre Dame football, and Villanova basketball. Prior to entering seminary I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville, and worked as a high school youth minister at St. Stephen’s in Riverview.

I was ordained in 2020 (a classmate of Fr. Connor Penn) where I received a bachelors in Philosophy and a masters in Divinity. I have spent the past four years at St. Timothy’s. While at St. Timothy’s I had an active presence in youth ministry, helping with retreats and accompanying many groups to Covecrest, Hidden Lake, as well as foreign mission trips. For the next two years I will be working on a masters degree in Church Management from Villanova University.

I chant most of the mass. This is something you will find out very quick after I start. When I’m not busy with parish activities, you can find me at the local gym working out, on the golf course, and occasionally might find me fishing or at the beach.

I’m excited to join the St. Catherine of Siena community, and can’t wait to meet each of you!"

An extremely grave amendment has been placed on the November 2024 ballot that seeks to erase pro-life protections by inserting language into the Florida Constitution prohibiting regulation of abortion. The amendment would allow late-term abortions, and would eliminate laws requiring parental consent and safety protocols for women. The Catholic Church across the state of Florida is urging all Florida Catholics and people of good will to vote “no” on Amendment 4.

Happy Feast of St. Catherine of Siena!

St. Catherine of Siena was a Dominican tertiary, mystic, and Doctor of the Church born in 1347 in Siena, Italy. She is renowned for her profound spirituality, acts of charity, and influence during the tumultuous times of the Avignon Papacy. St. Catherine dedicated her life to serving God and the Church, advocating for reform and the return of the papacy to Rome. She corresponded with popes, kings, and common people, offering spiritual guidance and counsel. Her mystical experiences, including visions and conversations with God, are documented in her writings, most notably The Dialogue. Canonized in 1461, St. Catherine is celebrated as a model of holiness, courage, and devotion to God. Her feast day is April 29th.

St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us!
