Everything about ME ✨ outside of the salon

I was an athlete most of my life so in my adult years I channel that same drive inside the gym.
I have 3 gym memberships & I own a peloton to keep it interested and depending where I am in the county. 🤪
I recently picked up hot yoga to push myself out of my comfort level and to work on flexibility and mobility for everyday life. Im slightly hooked and it’s not even February yet.
I love pushing my friends and clients to get healthy, stay active and beat the American diet!!

I am a mom of my son Jagger & this year I have been married 5 years and together with my husband Justin 8 years. I have a 21 year old step son who lives in Las Vegas. All my boys push me to be a better version of myself daily.

I have 2 brothers who live in California & miss them dearly, thankfully I have both parents close to keep me sane

We bought out forever home a week before covid (scariest purchase of our lives since we both weren’t working & we can’t “work from home.”) We have been remodeling ever since. After we finish our master bathroom remodel this Fall/Winter we will be complete (but are you ever done?)

I just want to inspire people emotionally, personally, professionally and physically. I love psychology and people are so interesting to me 💁🏻‍♀️ which allows me to love what I do for more reasons than just doing hair ❤️

Why I’ll charge hourly vs. package or à la carte

When I started my career in 2009 we charged with an à la cart approach. What I found is that people felt like the service was very “sales driven” and they felt like they were being up sold rather than customizable to what they needed. Clients would tend to not get an add-on to save money. However, they were leaving without things that they needed. For example a toner, a blow dry after a haircut, treatments after blonding service, etc.

So, after a class I took a few years back I started charging package pricing. That seemed to be the way everyone in the room was charging and I wanted to evolve with the industry. When you came in for a service would get everything start to finish under that price. Although I enjoyed using this pricing approach, I felt like I was running into the issue of people with a lot of hair were getting a deal and people with less hair we’re getting overcharged.

So this July I decided I wanted to make a shift behind my business and charge an hourly rate and stop double booking. I wanted to have a more 1:1 experience with my guests. I found this price based on experience, operation cost, product cost and an average within my business. Charging hourly I have found gives everyone an even slate, gives me more creativity as I can do exactly what you need to get an exact look & there’s no confusion.
I now charge like a lawyer, massage therapist, mechanic, lash artist, etc.

Could how you sleep be affecting your hair extensions? It 100% could be.

You have little to no control over how you move in your sleep, or which side of your body you sleep on, so it’s very important to secure and protect your hair at night. This ensures your hair doesn’t become tangled, protects the cuticle of the hair, and ultimately extends the life of your investment!    

There are a few different styles you can opt for when sleeping with extensions. Whichever one you choose will depend on the length of your hair, and how you plan to wear your hair extensions the next day.
If you have longer hair extensions, it’s best to secure them in a loose braid before your head hits the pillow. A braid is a wonderful option as it keeps your hair out of the way, and it leaves you with beach waves when you wake up the next morning! 

Not only does securing your hair in a braid keep it nice and beautiful, it also prevents your hair from becoming caught either by yourself, a partner, pet or child that sleeps next to you.

Not every hair appointment needs to be a transformation

We love a good lived in color look, but there is still color maintenance involved.

What doesn't maintenance look like when it comes to a lived in color? I recommend coming in for a glossing treatment every 6-8 weeks to help not only bring back the shine, but to help reseal the cuticle and remove any build up thats being caused by hard water and product!

This will give you a refresh without feeling like you are in need of a total revamp.

My name is Kelly Rocheleau
-34 years old
-born and raised from Seminole, FL
-I’ve been doing hair for 15 years
-I’ve owned Hylands Hair for almost half of my time behind the chair

I transform hair into a lived in color that allows you to have more of a low maintenance look.

I only take booking appointments through Via phone call or text as I am a control freak 😅 I do offer complimentary consultations in the salon. If you are too busy, I do offer FaceTime or zoom calls for consultations as well.

The reason I do hair is because I can express my creativity differently with every person, I make people feel awesome about themselves and I love meeting all types of people. I want you leaving my salon feeling touched, heard and relaxed.

As I am getting settled in my new space I am looking forward to wrapping 2023 up with a bang❗️ searching for an end of the year education class to attend & working very hard on work life balance (because I LOVE to work too much).

COLORING EXTENSIONS!!!!

It is not easy and can be super tricky, IYKYK. But once you master it, I don’t even have the words. Nobody really taught me color formulation for extensions I kinda have been just playing around with custom coloring my wefts, trial and error. But I have learned SO MUCH from which has led into following other stylist and learning more tips and tricks. Because the luxury extension community is small but man, the small things are what count!

I started rooting my wefts using color gels and using Shades eq cream processing solution for developer && WOW GAME CHANGER. Thanks to my suite neighbor .hudson who was perfectly placed in my life 🥹

Still using my blur and low lighting and toning with shades eq gloss though (just to be clear)
