Breakfast to kick off the day! Thanks to all who came out to help clean up the Idols Road Extension!!!

The Supreme Court sided with James Rudisill in the case Rudisill v. McDonough by a 7-2 ruling. This decision could impact up to 1.7 million veterans, allowing those who accrue benefits under both the Montgomery GI Bill and the Post-9/11 GI Bill to use both benefits.

The VFW will provide updates as we learn the full impact of this ruling.

UPDATE: Thanks to all who reached out, who prayed for us, or were thinking of us. We had a notary reach out and volunteer their time and expense to go to the hospital and fix our dilemma. We will now be able to recover the veteran’s personal effects.

We are working with a homeless vet who is hospitalized at Forsyth. We need a release notarized to get his personal belongings from his car, which was towed. Hospital notaries can only notarize health care documents. Notary would have to go to his room. If you know anyone that could help please let me know. Russ

EGGZTRAVAGANZA!!!

On March 27 between 2pm and 3:30pm someone entered our parking lot and poked a hole with a screwdriver in the fuel tank of our Honor Guard bus. Gasoline leaked out of the tank across the parking lot. The bus is used to transport Honor Guard members who perform services for deceased veterans. It is not clear if the individual was stealing gas or if it was an act of vandalism. In any event, if you saw anyone in the parking lot of our post during the times listed above please contact us or the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department.
