Did you know that July is National Anti-Boredom Month? One good way to fight boredom is exploring one of the Cleveland Metroparks. With over 25,000 acres in 18 reservations, there is a lot to keep you busy. Today’s photograph (taken in the late 1930s) is a ground-level view looking up at Hilliard Road Bridge. On July 22, 1796, a group of surveyors (including a fellow named Moses Cleaveland) from the Connecticut Land Company arrived at the site of what today is Cleveland, Ohio, so in honor of Cleveland’s coming 228th birthday, today’s 1927 photo shows Cleveland when it was merely 131 years old. Note the steel frame of the unfinished Terminal Tower looming in the center of the image.
