Heading to the pool, beach, or lake can be a wonderful form of exercise and can help your pet cool off on a hot day. However, it’s important to be mindful of water safety for your pet to ensure your trip to the water doesn’t result in a trip to the ER. A few helpful pointers when introducing your pet to water include: 💧Pick a shallow spot to start out and stay at the edge of the water. 💧Don’t force them in. Throwing a pet in the water who doesn’t want to swim can be traumatic for them. 💧Get in the water with them. When they start paddling with their front paws, lift their hind end so they understand how to float. Signs of arthritis in pets are similar to what we experience as humans and can include posture changes, difficulty walking, and reluctance to play.
