Frank Macek at WKYC Studios
The very latest news, weather & sports updates from our WKYC Studios in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
Friday officially marks my 30th anniversary here at WKYC-TV. All the fun here started on June 14, 1994, following six years at WDOK-FM/102.1, WWWE-AM/1100 and WRMR-AM/850 radio where I started in the Cleveland market and have worked here since, non-stop. I also spent nearly a decade on the radio at WNWV-FM/Smooth Jazz, 107.3 The Wave. Over the years, I have had several opportunities to go to bigger markets, but I chose Cleveland as home and so glad I did. Yes, I have fallen on my face many times, but I always got back up and worked hard to get where I am today. Going through a cancer diagnosis was among the worst, during the pandemic. I feel working in today's broadcast environment for the same station for 3 decades is a rarity and I am so appreciative of the station and TEGNA for their support. Special thanks to former WKYC Engineering Operations Manager Andrew Hitchcock and then Production Manager Rich O'Dell for taking a chance on a 24 year old kid back then. I hope I made you both proud.
