Attention Hiring Managers and People Leaders:
Are you overlooking experienced candidates because of their age? Take a lesson from Joe Flacco, who at 38 was written off by experts as too old and past his prime. Sitting at home hoping for a chance, the Cleveland Browns saw potential and gave him that opportunity to prove himself.
Since joining the Browns, Flacco has broken several NFL and team records, helping them clinch a spot in the playoffs and proving that experience and maturity can be valuable assets in the workplace.
How many "Flaccos" have you written off in your search? Keep an open mind and recognize the value that experienced candidates can bring to your team.

I worked a 4-40 work schedule (4 -10hour days) 25 years ago and loved it!! I was more efficient and appreciative of my work. Unfortunately, my employer didn’t understand it, but that was a long time ago and now, hopefully employers are more flexible.

When job interviewing, the most important thing you can do, in addition to learning more about the company and the position at hand, is to share how you bring value. The following article basically explains "What should you say in an interview when asked, “why should we hire you?”
1. Before an interview, research the role and the company. You should be informed so you can consider a response that takes the job listing into account.
2. Know who you are and what you have to offer an employer. This includes soft and hard skills, which should be elaborated upon with examples.
3. Express your career goals to convey your drive. This allows an employer to understand why you’re applying for a position.
Refine your pitch so you can feel confident as you provide your answer.

Great article on discussing compensation in a job interview. We always ask, “Where do you need to be compensation -wise to make a move?”
What Do You Think You Should Be Paid? It’s now a common job interview question. It can also be a trap. Here’s how to answer.

The post-pandemic workplace is shaping up to be very different than the one we left in March 2020. Yet according to McKinsey & Co., nearly three quarters of employers have no plan in place to reap the benefits of this “new normal”.
The old wisdom that employees are less productive when working outside the office has been turned on its head. Two thirds show an increase in individual productivity. In many cases, employees don’t need to be sitting in a cubicle in an office building to excel. Even groups have shown increases in productivity!
Using the technology that they had, employers ran a fire drill last year trying to ensure that employees had easy access to the technology and programs they needed. Old technologies feature expensive equipment to purchase and maintain, expensive employees to manage that technology, and an inability to easily scale up or down.
Employees working from home, or in a hybrid home/office environment can’t work with yesterday’s one-size-fits-all technology architecture. Worse, those old platforms can’t provide that flexibility.
That’s why smart employers are moving their technology to the cloud. They can hire from anywhere, vastly expanding the pool of top-notch employees. Those employees can work from anywhere. And there is no need to buy and maintain expensive servers or technicians to manage them.
How is your employer handling the new normal?
Came across this article. Full disclosure, I am an advocate for vaccinations, and have a number of clients who mandate them. I have zero problem using that as a criteria for a search. I am not sure putting on the resume is a good idea, however, since some people will jump to conclusions or make assumptions about politics and things unassociated with job qualifications. I think it is an interesting question none-the-less. COVID has changed a lot about how we work and how employment will look in the future. I will continue to watch this topic closely. https://www.theladders.com/career-advice/should-you-put-your-vaccination-status-on-your-resume?ltm=nP151PgCnBX7NBQtfM4DUIXitQ70Y6vjh0H%2FbnF1Uog%3D&subscriber_type=member&utm_source=member&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily-newsletter&utm_content=dnl-2021-9-27
Should you put your vaccination status on your resume? If you’re looking for a new job within the next year, should you consider putting your vaccination status on your resume?
