Last month we had the pleasure of working with for the third year in a row to create awards for their Women of Note honorees!
Artist was brought on board, and designed 13 print media collage pieces that conveyed the message “Rise, Inspire, Lead” which she beautifully tied into upbeat, colorful awards. One print was framed for Crain’s Cleveland Business collection as well.
This project is always an honor to work on, and we would love the opportunity to take on new award projects with other local businesses. Local art is a gift that keeps on giving!
This July, we are ecstatic to open Conjuring Images, featuring recent paintings and pastel drawings by represented artist Nikki Woods!
Woods states, “I use color, gesture and form to communicate a sense of directness and urgency and see painting as a practice of divination or mediumship, outside of time, …like reading a crystal ball—an image emerges from the canvas.”

Justin Brennan states, “I switched jobs somewhat recently after working 19 years in my family’s catering food service business, and am now a caregiver at the Cleveland Clinic. The last three months have been about serving people in a different, more sympathetic way, and this career shift has changed my art making practice drastically. My paintings have taken a more empathetic and thoughtful approach versus the harder edge abstraction I was focused on.
Some of the first paintings I created were non-representational and these were always very rewarding. I am sensing the freedom of creating invented landscapes, and mixing brighter color palettes.”
You can view Justin Brennan’s newest work alongside, Columbus painter, .troyer.art , and Cleveland ceramicist, , in the three person exhibit, Spatial Harmony, on view through June 29th!

Spatial Harmony is on view and continues at HEDGE Gallery this week through June 29th!
Aaron Troyer states, “Flowers are often presented as symbols of natural beauty, or in many cases, as benign decorations meant to “tie the room together”. My work challenges this notion by placing an emotional weight onto the plants that center them as the protagonist in a fantastical conflict with both natural and unnatural forces. By pushing ourselves to assign human emotions to plants, we can better understand the devastating toll that we often unknowingly inflict into the natural world.”
Troyer’s paintings are currently on view alongside represented artist, Justin Brennan, and Cleveland ceramicist Kero Johannes. We hope you’ll stop by to view this dynamic three person exhibition!

Aaron Troyer, who currently lives in Columbus, Ohio, paints naturalistic scenes that skirt the line between familiar and fantastical. In addition, he works as an educator and occasionally records and performs music.
He states, “I am interested in exploring themes of desperation and confusion through a playful, and slightly humorous lens. By defying traditional perspectives and color schemes, while simultaneously embracing and distorting many well-worn landscape tropes, I can present a world that is free from the restrictions of objective scenery.”

Did you know that the Breath Series and Rock Cloud Series in Rebecca Cross' exhibit, are created by casting dyed silk around found rocks?
Once the silk dries around the rock, the silk is cut loose but holds the unique ovular shape that is seen in the image above. Residual dye can also be seen on the rock in the second image that was left over from this process.
This is the last week to view these pieces in person, so we hope that you'll stop by. The Gallery is open this week:
