Real World Q&A. When should I be concerned about calf pain?
I am a 25 year old female and I have calf pain. When should I be concerned about calf pain?
Dr.L-->If you are on birth control, have been traveling with prolonged periods of inactivity, your calves look red or swollen and feel hot.

Money is tight and he is fighting more with his partner. He feels worse everyday but he hasnt sought treatment, guidance or intervention. His partner moves out. He feels hurt, angry, frustrated, confused. His pain experience worsens further. He is scared to return to work but he must make ENDS MEET. This is the real world hitting you form every angle. Bio-Psycho-Social interplay. Not neccesarily in that order.
Real Life Q&A. I have been sick for a couple days now and I have random back pain on my right side Female | 17 years old
Dr.L-->I would wait 72H hours. You may have inflammatory pain secondary to the your recent illness. As your body stabilizes and inflammatory mediators diminish so should your back pain. If not, you can follow up with chiropractor for an evaluation. If you were in bed for a couple of days your back may be locked up and an adjustment can help.
You've been ill. Work is 'killing you.' Partner doesn't get it. Then you decide to hang for a bit. Respite finds you and your ailments all seem lighter. You immerse yourself in the present and realize things are not so bad. You're ENeRGiZeD! Do not underestimate the power of positive social on your mental health and physical well being. Real Life Q&A. Is it safe to go to a chiropractor if you have arthritis?
I am a 42 year old female. I want to know if it is safe to go to a chiropractor if you have arthritis?
Dr.L-->Generally yes but you should know the location, type and severity of YOUR arthritis. Inflammatory, osteo, rheumatoid, psoriatic, degenerative, etc. There is no One Size Fits All. You should be evaluated first before CRUNCH time. You may have to try different adjustment approaches to see what works best for you.
Sometimes all I do, is provoke thought. Person in mid30s seeks evaluation of intractable headache that began suddenly 6mo ago and led to stroke-like symptoms with reversible right sided weakness. No headache history. He controls high blood pressure with prescribed meds. Positive family history of stroke. Neurologist ordered several tests. Brain CT/MRI, Neck CT, EEG negative. Neck MRI showed multiple herniations. No neck pain but still tried three months of PT with little change. He suffered another near-stroke like episode one week before our visit. My exam was unremarkable. Something seemed off. I asked if anything changed prior to the first headache 6mo earlier. No recollection of anything impactful. Before treating him, I ordered an MRA to double-check for any vascular compromise in the head or neck. The following week he comes in. Headache gone! Our conversation got him thinking. A week or so before his first headache, he began a new blood pressure medicine. He consulted his primary and discovered this med drops cardiac output prompting severe low blood pressure that mimick stroke like symptoms in some people. Primary changed his meds. Problem solved. He thanked me for helping him. Your story matters. Listen to the patient.
A young man battling depression suffers a bad breakup that spirals, leading to social withdrawal and decreased physical activity. Low back pain sets in from 'vegging out' and is spreading to his legs. The added stress sparks anxiety and anger. Bio-psycho-social influences play varying roles in our health and well being. The struggle is real. You are not alone.
Real Word Q&A. What happens to your body after a chiropractic adjustment?
I am a 44 year old male. I want to know what happens to your body after a chiropractic adjustment?
Dr.L-->Lots of things…off the top of my head?! Endorphin release. Pain gating. Nerve downregulation. Muscle relaxation. Increased blood flow. Unrestricted joint play. Improved movement. General feelings of well-being :O)
You are the only YOU in the multiverse AND there's no manual. OSFA approach to healthcare does not work. Your story matters. The examination provides clues. How else can we glimpse into your world.
Mother daughter conflicts lead to increased anxiety and depression. Meds are prescribed. The stress causes tension type headaches and neck pain that start to present with migraine like symptoms. If you've been here, you understand the bio-psycho-social model. We don't live in vacuum. Our social interactions, psyche and body interplay to impact our health.
Real World Q&A. I’m 16 and whenever I walk my back starts hurting and I have to sit down. I’ve also noticed that whenever I bend over and stand up it hurts. I do have scoliosis but the last time I had it checked it wasn’t that was that was probably like 7 years ago. I take Zoloft. Female Complaint duration: a few years now
Dr.L-->At your age, scoliosis is the most likely culprit for ongoing back pain. Most scoliosis is generally managed that's because surgery is saved for people with extreme curves that are affecting internal organs or quality of life. Chiropractic manipulation is beneficial and helps minimize exacerbations. Also, depression/anxiety can exacerbate and augment your pain experience. Be mindful of your feelings and their impact on your symptoms.
Sometimes this HURTS...sometimes it just IS...Disc herniations can produce disabling symptoms that may require treatment, injections and/or surgery...BUT 80% of the population have disc herniations with no pain. It's important to avoid tunnel vision and treat people not pictures.
What we say and how we say it matters to people suffering from pain or anxiety. Best to assuage and empower👊🏽.
Well adjusted!!! Feel the difference! Happy Friday🙌🏽
Recently, I was asked twice about Chiropractic and vertigo. 1st. Dizziness & vertigo are different. The video tries to represent vertigo where the world moves/spins around you. This is disabling and disconcerting. Manipulation may help if symptoms originate in the neck. But vertigo has a stronger neurologic influence that may also include the occular and/or vestibular systems. If you have or have been told you have Meniere's the inner ear or vestibular system is involved. Manipulation is a management option. Epleys maneuver may help as well. Occulomotor exercises can also help. Meniere's is not fully understood. Management options can be used until better treatment options arrive.
