Googles May 5th core update is going to crush a lot of peoples and publishers sites lol.

If you didnt know its the reputation abuse update.

My main takeaway from it is that Google is reworking its spam report. This means you can manully submit sites you think are abusing and it gets sent to a team to review or maybe algorithmically checks it.

How this can help you if you are a small home service company

If one of your main competitors is known for buying backlinks and guestpost you can soon report them and if they get looked at and verified they were abusing backlinks and high DR sites they will get a manual action by google.

There are already reports of people losing 90% of their traffic.

Manual actions are rolling out right now but might take a month before algorithm starts rolling

SGE Optimization is going to be the thing that takes off. Already have plans for it and saw some results through testing.

Excuse my crappy design but I wanted to give a visual story of one of my client Turtley Awesome Cooling & Heating LLC when I took them on in Nov 23

The had used a well known company in our industry for 2.5 years and never saw results with them. Frustrated he reached out to me and I was able to tell him some of the problems his agency was doing wrong (more like doing nothing). After finding out about this he had reached out to them and was told to pay more money to be *more competitive

Michael ended up hiring me and quickly I took over optimizing his GMB and his website. There was a lot of problems with his website and I was able to show him with examples of what I was doing each week and my game-plan.

Last month he had told me he had his 🫰HIGHEST call volume in HISTORY!!!🫰 and this was all coming from his organic Google My Business page after my website and GMB optimizations. It has been awesome journey to work with Michael, yet I still pick on him to do this or that but progress is going smooth.

We also ended planning on redesigning his website this month because the previous company was using a lot of plugins and poorly designed theme builder. Now his site will be running much faster and looking more modern.

Most people thing the SEO game is hard but realistically all I did for this client was fixing technical issues and removing walls of text from his pages, and fixing his google my business page. If done right you will see the results.

I always tell my clients to focus on GMB and Organic before using paid ads etc. I was also able to help him better understand and track his lead sources. May more success to come for my client!

🍑Blog Post Automation AI site users are going to take a big hit as Google is now going to remove sites from being shown on search that are using these types of software to push content on your site.
🥰 Guest post services are now going to be dead, Google is aware of people using guest post services at high domain authority sites for reputation abuse

Just some pointers for those in the Home Service Industry:

1️⃣ If your SEO is on point, it doesn't mean you are converting well.

2️⃣ UIX (user experience) is the next step in making sure your website in converting well. Don't do the walls of text. Learn how to use elements and place CTA in the best spots.

3️⃣ Use audit tools like Hotjar to see user interaction on your site (recordings, and heatmaps) to see where they fall off on engagement and make adjustments.

4️⃣ Learn what the BIG CORPS are doing like APPLE for example, how are they designing their sites for their customers. Do the same for yours, no matter what industry you are in.

5️⃣ SOP/Operations is everything - If you don't get this in place you will get to a point where you can't grow.

6️⃣ The customer journey - look into the pain points of your customer's problems, how are you going to address them? How are you going to nurture your customers? Treat them like family. Are you doing happy calls?

7️⃣ I don't know I just work here but the Super Bowl is coming.
