Is it me or do you all like the routine September brings to your home life? Morning routines, sports and homework. Things are a bit different now that all my littles are grown but I can still feel the energy switch this season brings to those with school aged children. I long for it if I’m being honest.

I’m so behind with posting from all of my summer studio sessions. This handsome fella is now 5 and heading to kindergarten this year. We were able to snap a few images just before he lost his first tooth. Their little smiles change so much after that happens. I’m so glad we froze time a bit for his mama.

It’s been a while since my last post. I promise you I’m still here. Still photographing the most special moments for my clients. This recent one with this now 3 year old just makes me so happy. He’s the most precious little guy and lucky me to have been photographing him since birth. I am forever grateful for the families that trust me with this honor.

These two sweet nuggets came to the studio last week to see me. I’ve had the privilege of photographing them since birth. Now almost 4 & 2, it’s the sweetest thing to see their personalities grow. If you know me, I love a beautiful sibling shot and this one ticks all the boxes. Sure mama, I know you want that perfect look into the camera cheesy shot, but I’m telling you, these more candid shots are the ones that will tug at your heart and make you want them to stay little forever.

I haven’t had a lot of time to nurture my social media for this account but I’m indeed still working BTS and over on my other account serving my clients. I am still taking on a handful of clients this June and July then I’ll be closing up for a 3 week break mid August through the first of September. Oh my how is it almost May? The calendar is filling up for the rest of my summer. The studio will be closed mid August through the first week of September. So many precious new babies, toddlers and families are visiting the studio this Spring and early Summer. Have you reserved your session date with me for this year? The studio will be closed mid August through the first week of September.
In order to qualify for my annual Halloween Client appreciation event, you must have booked a session for 2024 before October 1st. This means you can book your full studio session now for October through December. If you wait till closer to October, I can’t guarantee you a spot of your choosing. Studio dates are limited this year more than ever and I want to make sure all my past clients and new clients get in on this event. It’s that special folks!

How is it that today ( Tuesday) after Easter, feels more like a Monday?

I’m currently booking newborn sessions into the month of May. Sometimes I get last minute requests after baby is born and I always try to accommodate them if my schedule allows. My best advice for expecting mamas is to look around and do your homework before baby gets here. It will make your decision easier and you will be making that investment decision from a place of logic than emotion. There are many beautiful options for newborn photographers here locally. Some more unique than others. Find the one whose work speak to your heart and whose processes align with your expectations. Don’t be afraid to hop on a call with them. This is an invaluable step that is often missing when searching for a newborn photographer. Am I the right photographer for you? I’m always open to sharing my 16 plus years of experience with anyone. My favorite band in high school was The Cars. I had all their music on cassette tapes ( yes this probably ages me c/o 1986 baby! ) Unfortunately, I never had the chance to see them in concert. It was a sad day in 2019 when the band’s iconic singer Ric Ocasek passed away. Their music however is still one of great nostalgia for me. It takes me back to simpler times in my life and the whimsies of my high school years. I think it’s a similar reaction we get when we see a photo or video from the past…holding our newborns, taking their first steps. I think that’s one of the reasons I’m drawn to preserving these memories for my clients. I’m a little ahead of the game of life than most of my clients these days. I know how much these memories are going to mean to them 10, 20 or 30 years from now. Everything l do for my clients comes a genuine desire to preserve their most precious memories.

As the song says, “If there is a way to slow down time, someone show me how.” Babies grow up way too fast. They just don’t keep folks.

My babies are 28, 25 & 22 now. Long gone are the chaotic days of toys, messes, school activities but my hallways are filled with some of their most tender moments. The ones that have always made my mama heart long for that time with them again.

When I get to capture some of those magic hallway moments for my clients like this one, I get a little misty eyed for them. When you know you know. It’s something mamas just feel to their core. You know it’s going to be a favorite and you can already see it in their home up on their walls. That’s what I want for all my clients…just something that will freeze time for them.

Happy New Year!
It’s been a while since I did a reintroduction.
I’m Tonya. I’m a mother at heart with a passion for all mothers to get in front of the camera with their babies.

When I’m not loving on babies , toddlers and mamas, you can find me most mornings with a cup of hot tea or coffee. Though my favorite hot beverage is chai tea with a splash of Hazel nut creamer, I love a good strong cup of joe first thing in the morning!

I’m a bit of a unicorn in this area and age of what I call “FAST FOOD Digital Photography.” I believe in preserving memories through tangible items like prints, albums and heirloom wall art. With me, you will always walk away from any session with something you can be proud and thankful for years from now.

The thing I’m most excited about for this year ( year 16) in my business is to intentionally slow down and learn a few new skills. Video has been on my radar for a while. I am excited to incorporate some of that for my clients mid to late year so stick around my friends!

What a year it’s been with my rainbow 🌈 babies. When I say MY babies, I truly mean that. I love on all my clients but there is something magical about getting to know and spend extra time with my membership clients over the course of one year. I do not take that privilege or responsibility of this job lightly. I guess that’s why I grow so attached to them and why it’s a happy but sort of sad ending when we complete their first year of portraits. The beautiful part of documenting and curating a body of images with my membership clients, is that the end result is something so special and unique to each family. A curated and cohesive piece of their baby’s story that will be cherished for a lifetime.

I’ve been a bit quieter with posts and stories this last month. Trust me when I say there’s so much to share coming in the pipelines this month and next. I’ve also had some business growing pains as I navigate juggling two photography businesses this year. is vastly different in all aspects and with this being technically year one of launching, I have to keep reminding myself that I need to keep a slow pace so I can serve both clients equally. In the past month, I’ve launched a new website for it and added new services while creating brand photography for some amazing entrepreneurs. This month I counted 18 sessions which included my annual Halloween Minis. I feel blessed to have such a full calendar. Thank you to everyone who have been my faithful friends and followers. I appreciate all the referrals and love and will continue to work diligently to live up to my reputation of serving my clients and serving them well.
