Central Valley students show off technical talents at Career Skills Challenge Thursday, more than 1,000 Central Valley students got a chance to show off what they're learning at the Career Skills Challenge.
High School students get hands-on experience with the trades Nearly 60 high school students had the opportunity to learn more about a variety of trades and have the opportunity to speak with apprentices and trades employers during the Apprenticeship Day at Plumbers, Pipefitters and HVACR Service Technicians Training Center. Young ladies also got the chance to try their hand in construction this week at the second annual Women in Trades (WiT) Conference, held Thursday, March 12. Then they heard from a panel of local tradeswomen as they told their inspiring stories of success!! Below is a picture of the 2013-2014 CUSD ROP Firefighting Technology senior students that have been accepted in to the Fresno City College (FCC) Fire Academy. It is exciting to note that all Five (5) of CUSD High Schools are represented in these seven students. They will start the rigorous 20 week Firefighter 1 Academy on July 28th 2014, and complete it on December 11, 2014. All of these students have excelled in the CUSD ROP Firefighting Technology program and should have bright futures in the Fire Service. Pictured are: Front row – Left to right:
