Our Physical Therapist, Jason, recently visited the Fitness Center at The Villages & Meadows at Hillview. He discussed the importance of staying active and healthy as we age. Over 20 residents were on hand for the presentation. There was even a 102-year-old man at the gym...working out!

One woman stated that she had been a resident for 14 years and had never set foot in the Fitness Center. She was impressed with the presentation and confident that she would begin a workout routine thanks to Jason's encouragement!

Today, our Occupational Therapist, Mary, and our Physical Therapist, Kristen, talked to the residents of Ashbridge Manor Senior Living about fall prevention, staying safe during daily routine and how therapy can help them continue to live independently. 💚

"I was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease & was given a script to enroll in an LSVT-BIG therapy program by a licensed occupational therapist. This is a 4-day-a-week commitment to a specialized therapy program designed to counteract the muscle stiffness & weakness associated with Parkinson's.

Elite Therapy Solutions in West Chester introduced me to certified therapist Mary Ryan, who specializes in LSVT-BIG therapy. I was a little afraid of the commitment & meeting my responsibility of a 4 days a week program, but Mary soon put my fears at ease that we would be doing it together & that she would work with me to reach my goals.

She initially did my evaluation & we began the therapy that consisted of making extra large, exaggerated movements & doing things like opening a door with intention & swinging my arms when I walked. She looked up information for me & shared websites that would be helpful on my journey. We became fast friends as her patience and genuine care showed through with every passing session! She added music and made it fun, and I soon looked forward to every session with her! Even now I hear her telling me to "open the door with intention" & "keep your head up'.
I am stronger now and learning to trust my body & muscles again & it's in no small part of because of Mary making me know that i can. She is very professsional, yet warm & caring.
