Good Afternoon 6th Grade Parents,

Mrs. Shimon and I would like to first apologize for the late notice that we provided for our 6th grade trip. The fact that we did not properly plan and facilitate communication in a timely manner put families in a difficult position. The opportunity for students to participate in a field trip should be enjoyable for both students and parents. The failure to organize the trips and provide proper notice should not have occurred.

We value the partnership we have with our students, families, and staff. Key to that partnership is open communication. Our failure to communicate in a timely manner put undue stress and pressure on families to quickly return permission slips and pay for the trip. For this reason, we are rescheduling the 6th grade field trip to Tuesday May 28, 2019.

I would also like to inform you that the trip has been changed to the Whitaker Science Center in Harrisburg, PA https://www.whitakercenter.org/ . After speaking with the Whitaker Science Center's Director of Educational field trips, the 6th graders will be attending the Whitaker Science Center as it closely aligns to our current 6th Grade science curriculum. Please follow the above link and you will see the wonderful exhibits and activities that our 6th graders will be participating in. It will be a great day of exploration.

The payment remains the same, $12.00 per student. We thank you if you have already paid. Permission slips reflecting this change will be sent out next week. We will honor your payment for this trip.

Respectfully,

Dr. Tony Oyola

Principal

7/8 transition meeting tonight 7 PM at North

Dear Parents & Guardians,

We wanted to remind you that we will be meeting tonight at North Brandywine Middle School for our final full group meeting regarding the 7/8 Middle School transition process. Our meeting will begin at 7 p.m. as listed on the website. While this meeting is the final meeting we have listed on our website our work is far from complete. We will be continuing to communicate throughout the transition process and will be inviting continued participation in transition planning for students, teachers and parents from now through the beginning of the 19-20 school year to ensure a smooth transition for students and families.

We look forward to seeing you tonight.

Best Regards,

Attention 6th grade families:

All 6th graders are invited to join their classmates and teachers for an educational field trip on Monday, April 1st. The students will be going to Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ. Adventure Aquarium is just minutes from downtown Philadelphia on the Camden Waterfront and features one-of-a-kind exhibits with more than 15,000 aquatic species throughout two million gallons of water. This trip will compliment the material students are learning in their Science classes. This is only a day trip, and you should send your 6th grader on his/her normal am/pm school bus; all students will return home at their usual time.

Please sign and return your student's permission slip by this Thursday, March 29 (remember, no school on Friday!). Students have received a copy in school and there is another copy attached to this email. Any parent interested in chaperoning should contact the school office! Remember that updated clearances are a "must" for any parent looking to chaperone.
