We are still so excited about the success of last weeks Women's Wellness Week. We started off the week by welcoming over 14 agencies to share the work they do everyday with our community and celebrating WIC’s 50th anniversary. We saw over 50 families in attendance who were able to ask questions, collect some freebies, and get their faces painted. That same day we were joined by Child Guidance Resource Centers where they gave two fun and engaging workshops surrounding resilience and managing emotions. On Tuesday we saw groups and more intimate settings with Maternal and Child Health Consortium of Chester County, Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, and Family Service of Chester County they were able to engaging directly with families answering questions about benefits, understanding unhealthy relationships, and taking care of kin. Wednesday we focused on mindfulness with Chester County Hospital as they explored the benefits of mindfulness and how to use it on a day-to-day basis. Finally, on Thursday, Coatesville Youth Initiative and Legal Aid of Southeastern PA were able to take a break with parents and discussed clean slate and expungement. Thank you again to The Alliance for Health Equity for letting us utilize the Kay Conference Room in the Brandywine Center, this incredible space allowed us to engage and interact with many members of our community. We are so grateful to all of these organizations who put their time into putting on these workshops. Thank you to everyone who came out to this event and we are hopeful to continue efforts like these in the future.
Today we held our monthly CARN (Coatesville Area Resource Network) meeting where providers come together to hear from a variety of organizations and share ideas and programmatic information. This month, our Executive Director, Kathryn Spurlock, and Community Engagement Coordinator, Grace Fuller, engaged the group in conversation regarding the "why" of their organizations, "what" gaps do we see in the community, "what" are we currently doing to meet those needs, and "how" do we address those needs further. Those in attendance broke into groups on broad topics including maternal, children & youth, adults, seniors, and healthcare. Each group came together and had open and honest conversation about the barriers and challenges; but together came to the consensus that the opportunity for collaboration is immense and the willingness to work was evident in the atmosphere of the conversation. We are so grateful for the providers in attendance and their thoughts as we continue to put the work in for our community.
