Stephanie Lee wrote these beautiful words in honor of our friend and You Are Team member, Kim Hembry, who is now in the presence of Jesus. We are so grateful for Kim's life and legacy. Many of you that have attended our conference over the years have been personally touched by her work and prayer behind the scenes. For multiple years, she headed up our welcome bag team and led the way for our volunteers to not only help us put all the welcome bags together but to pray for the women that would be holding those bags. What a gift to know and honor Kim.

There are moments in life when you remember exactly where you were when it happened... the early morning on Friday, October 11th is one of those moments. This is when I heard that my friend, my praying friend, my servant hearted friend, my thoughtful friend, my faith-filled friend, my advocate friend, my giggly friend, my celebratory friend, my visionary friend, my overcoming friend, my tender-hearted friend, my curious friend, my devoted friend, my friend that could do the splits at any moment, my creative friend, my enduring friend, my precious and irreplaceable friend- Kim Hembry- fell asleep and awoke in the very presence of Jesus. While I know she is free and full of life, she leaves a hole in my heart and in the hearts of our family.

Where was I when I received this news? In a hot air balloon basket floating over the mountains at sunrise. I was in the air (even as I write I am deeply moved to tears again). In that moment, I became keenly aware of the thin veil between heaven and earth. I heard the fire inside the balloon, felt it's heat, and with tears in my eyes had a profound sense of peace even in the midst of shock. Kim is with the one her heart loves, in her most familiar place, near the heart of Jesus.

Kim's prayers will continue to live on and bring fruit that far outnumber her days. Her legacy is mighty. She was a huge part of our You Are Women's Conference family and we shared profound moments both at conference and Living Room Sessions. She faithfully led the welcome bag team for years, even while she lived abroad. God would kindly make a way for her to be present with us over and over again. The thousands of women that have come to conference have received bags intentionally prepared for them by Kim's loving hands and visionary prayers. There are cards that are given each year in bags with words and scriptures on them to specifically encourage the individuals that receive them. Here is a text that we received from Kim as she prayed:

"Morning, Ash and Steph!
I woke up with a phrase in my spirit that I think could be used for the cards in the women’s bags for You Are, so I wanted to pass it off to you for consideration.
The phrase is:
I have hope for __________ because God _____________.
For instance, …
I have hope for FREEDOM because God OPENS PRISON DOORS! Isaiah 61:1
Or…
I have hope for PROVISION because God IS JEHOVAH JIREH - THE LORD THAT PROVIDES. Genesis 22:14
Or…
I have hope for JOY because God FILLS ME WITH JOY IN HIS PRESENCE. Psalm 16:11"

Kim is indeed FULL of joy in his presence now and her prayers will continue to lead me and so many as we grieve now. I miss my friend already and will continue to miss her warm smile, faithful texts and pure eyes.

Finally, many years ago Kim introduced us to her amazing mom, KristineandTim Hembry. Kristine has become a dear part of our You Are family as well. Will you pause and pray for her even now as you read this? There is no grief like the grief of a mother. She is clearly being held and comforted by God daily, even moment by moment. I love you, Kristine.
