Today, Governor Polis and the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC), joined by local leaders, announced new workforce housing units in Buena Vista, a significant development that will support local workforce sustainability now and into the future.
“This housing is a big success for both the Colorado Department of Corrections and the town of Buena Vista. Colorado supports our Department of Corrections workers and these new housing options in Buena Vista are an important way to retain and attract the workforce we need to serve the community,” said Governor Jared Polis.

The housing includes 12 fully furnished two- and three-bedroom units. This housing represents a collaborative effort between Fading West Development and the Colorado Department of Corrections to address the need for accessible housing for correctional professionals in Buena Vista.

Visiting Update for Youthful Offender System (YOS)

Youthful Offender System remains on modified operations, limited visiting will be permitted on Saturday August 10, 2024 and Sunday August 11, 2024. Only those offenders at Phoenix status or assigned to Lower East living unit will be eligible for visits at this time. All visits for Friday August 9, 2024 are canceled.

🚨We’ve heard that some families are getting scam calls from someone pretending to be a Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) case manager. The scammer is asking for money via Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App, claiming that payment will lead to the release of their loved ones.
‼️Always remember‼️ the CDOC will never ask for payment through mobile phone apps. If you get such a call, please hang up and report it to Constituent Services at [email protected]. As always, you can verify any concerns by emailing us directly.
