Dear Friends I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Jim Wiley. He is on Ebay as "lotsobuttons". He is just starting out so I'd appreciate it if you could visit his shop! I have personally seen all the buttons he is selling and I know that you'll love them! Thanks!
Super simple holiday broach with a favorite button center! No harm to the button and no glue! Flowers from Dollar Tree, of course!
So..hope you'll bear with me here:
I came to button collecting from the sewing/quilting world. My first foray into buttons was a cut and glue (new plastic) buttons to bracelet blanks. It lead to my business, Jillions of Buttons, and 2 published books that help beginners, like myself, identify Grandma's button tin treasures and craft with them. My thought was, how can we spark a conversation about buttons if we dont use and display them to the public? After joining the Colorado State Button Society I sought to become a "bridge" for button education and collectors who didn't necessarily want to compete. It's still a battle. I liken it to the progression of quilting. The uproar that occured when quilters started quilting by machine was a huge turning point for the artform. Now look at how diverse (and current) quilting is! If we hope to expand button knowledge we MUST accept everyone! After all, it's YOUR button! If you are offered no harm ways to display your glass button and still choose to grind the back off, that's your choice! (But no longer a button so dont call it an antique button bracelet if this is how you sell your pieces) I, and others, may cringe, but there are no Button Police! It's about education and appreciation.
Thank you.
