Binary Birthday Candles - sciencefairyCO How do you use binary to count birthday cake candles?
Bridging the space that I do between stay-at-home-mom and working mom surprises people. I hope it causes reflection on our societal judgments about women in their careers. My career path B.C. was jagged at best (thanks to hidden disability). Jumping into entrepreneurship made sense for a workaholic personality in early marriage. So I have a business, plenty of hours need to go into it, spending money comes from it, and Iteach by example for my daughter and son.
I don’t nap when they nap and my housekeeping is circumspect. I rely on my partner to manage home-stuff and to fill in with the kids for weekend events. I do have it good, and I have 80% of each of the dichotomies. We have lazy jammies mornings, easy shopping during the daytime, play dates, and parks. Working on the business recharges my batteries most of the time. I work with kids anyway, so if a vendor or networking contact won’t adjust to my having kids in view…I don’t want to work with them anyway.
But I do need childcare.
Monday is a . If you are a childcare provider you know how tough it all is for you. If you are an employer of moms/dads, please hear the plea. Women need flexibility and to be understood devoted to their employer after their devotion to their families. We are a mighty force when energies and support align. I need childcare and we do so with a patchwork of family, sitter, and licensed home-based care. There are hiccups. The world is a fluid place which many employers forget. Take the chance on a stay-at-home mom, but you’ll never get there without acknowledging childcare.

The first That Science Fairy booking was opening a new STEM classroom, and we bowled onions. It was a stinky strong fun-fest. These drink bottles were my first set, painted inside. All 10. I recently removed them from inventory for toy bowling pins, oh,
