🚨 Recent Changes in Payroll Policy: New Overtime Rules 🚨

Have you heard about the new changes to overtime rules? The U.S. Department of Labor announced in April that they will be making significant changes to overtime rules, impacting millions of employees across the nonprofit sector. The minimum salary threshold for white-collar employees was raised on July 1, 2024 to $43,888 per year, with a further increase to $58,656 by January 1, 2025.

For highly compensated employees, the threshold was increased from $107,432 to $132,964, and to $151,164 in January 2025. These thresholds will be adjusted every three years, starting in 2027.

It’s true! George Washington did not want to accept the paycheck, but was later convinced in order to set a good precedent for future office-holders. It is now against the law for a U.S. president not to take a salary.

At the time, the $25,000 salary was 2% of the U.S. budget. If a modern president’s salary was 2% of the budget, it would be around $80 billion!
