Colorado Army National Guard is pulling for a cause. Join the Colorado Army National Guard on August 24th, as we pull a 747 at DIA to support Special Olympics of Colorado and their athletes. COARNG will be competing against law enforcement organizations to see who can pull the plane the fastest across the tarmac. COARNG is (sponsoring) the hanger and will be able to enjoy VIP benefits as they attend the event. We are capped at 25 athletes to pull the plane, but all COARNG members are invited to attend.

The Colorado Army National Guard Honor Guard is looking for enlisted Soldiers state-wide to join the Military Funeral Honors (MFH) program. All Soldiers will be required to complete the MFH 40 Hour Level 1, Phase 1 Initial Training course. The MFH program will be conducting a 40-hour Training course starting 5-9 AUGUST 2024, interested Soldiers will be placed on PAY Status for those days. There will also be later training courses so any interested Soldiers should contact the program regardless of whether they can make the upcoming course. Upon completion of initial training, Soldiers will be qualified to perform final Military Funeral Honors services for Army veterans. Responsibilities of an MFH M-Day Soldier are to participate in MFH Services as assigned by the Area Coordinator based around the Soldier’s civilian work and military drill schedules. Soldiers interested in an ADOS position will be placed on an Order of Merit List (OML) that will be used to hire against as vacancies become available. We are currently projecting multiple vacancies in the Denver Metro Area, Colorado Springs and in Grand Junction. We will hold the training at the Aurora Armory (55 S Potomac St. Aurora, CO 80012). The State Retention Bonus is now live for those whose ETS window is between 01July and 31 December 2024.

Basic Eligibility Requirements include:

E3-E7
13 years or less Time in Service (TIS)
MOSQ
Available to MDAY, AGR, and Technicians!
This bonus will pay out in roughly 14 days but it is subject to funds availability - First Come, First Serve!

This is in addition to the $10K Federal Bonus that is available to MDAY Soldiers.

Warriors,

This month, we celebrate the founding of our great Nation in which the United States declared its independence. This declaration cost approximately 25,000 American Soldiers lives during the Revolutionary War, a price not taken lightly. While we may celebrate with fireworks, attending concerts or sporting events, barbeques, camping, and other methods, it’s important to keep this reminder in our minds and in our hearts as a reason of why we continue to serve. Also, we remember our fellow COARNG family members that are currently deployed. It’s also important to not overlook safety. As much as it’s mentioned, we cannot emphasize enough its importance as the temperatures are hotter, the fire danger increasing, units conducting Annual Training, and so on. You are a valued member of this family, and any accident impacts us all. Also, the 2024 Olympic Games begin in Paris, France later this month as we cheer on the talented athletes selected to represent our Country. In closing, remain safe, remain vigilant, look out for each other, and thank you all for what you do.

Last week, we conducted a Cultural Day with our friends of the 101st Royal Artillery aka The Northern Gunners. We took them on a tour of the State Capital and to a Colorado Rockies game. Accompanying them were our Soldiers that will be flying out to the UK in September for the second part of this cultural exchange. PFC Dunagan, CPL Lewis, and Mr. Segner of 188th FSC, 3-157th Field Artillery Battalion , conducted a DA Form 5988-E class. This is used in the GCSS-Army system to document and track equipment maintenance and deficiencies. It helps ensure that equipment is properly maintained, identifies potential problems, and allows for effective maintenance planning and resource management.

1SG Yhonquea, 1LT Bergan, and CPL Lewis of 188th FSC, 3-157th Field Artillery Battalion performed Sling Load Inspector Certification Course (SLICC) familiarization to their Soldiers. The purpose is to understand basic sling load operations and provide instruction on properly inspecting and preparing cargo loads for helicopter transport.
