MEET THE ARTISTS: Lauren Edson

Lauren is the Project Manager for Euphoria Short Works Festival. They are a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, earning degrees in Psychology and Theatre. They are excited for this opportunity to make change with art! She is working alongside local artists Reanna Madson and Zach Staads to create a photo series capturing moments where one may feel euphoric about their gender.

MEET THE ARTISTS: Identity Crisis Improv

C Michael Menge (they & he) and Chip Gehring (they/them) are an in*******al duo of trans improvisors who take the audience through a chaotic montage of trans gay joy! They q***r connection with silliness and heart, exploring relationship structures through heartfelt connections and ridiculous situations. Identity Crisis is known for their performances at Summer Potluck and HUGE Wednesdays at HUGE Theater, as well as a Trans-formative Cabaret at Phoenix Theater.

MEET THE ARTISTS: Annika Hansen

Annika Hansen (they/she) is a genderq***r dancer, choreographer, and collaborator based in Minneapolis, Mni Sota Makoce on Dakota and Anishinaabe land. Annika received a BFA in Dance from the Univeristy of Minnesota. Their work draws from their studies in somatic practices, improvisation, post-modern, and contemporary dance forms. Their aesthetic holds a curiosity for detailed movements and energetic shifts, finding deep investment in the sensations of the body. Annika is interested in developing personal narratives in choreography as well as collaborative endeavors that draw individuals together in community.

MEET THE ARTISTS: Hadar Isra

My name is Hadar Isra. I am a 21 years old Muslim life giver, teacher and artist currently based in Minneapolis. I have been creating art for as long as I remember but trauma bible is an evolving piece that has been performed at least annually since 2017. This piece is a journal or rather series of journals that focus on my job of healing and growing from trauma.

MEET THE ARTISTS: DIVAJ

DIVAJ is a Minnesota twin cities based live performer, writer, and recording artist. They are a rapper, witch, alien, freak, and diva. They are Black Femme Q***r artist with the talent and skill to rise to the top of the entertainment industry, with the business mindset to impact the culture of consumer and community, while intentionally healing black wounds, protecting feminine bodies, and valuing q***r authenticity. They stand in their blackness, bloom in their femininity, and embrace their q***rness. Their sound is unique because they compose their art, music, and performance from their lived experiences. Like some of their favorite rappers, they include metaphors, punchlines, flow changes, humor, and wit into their verses and rhymes.

My name is Reanna Madson and I'm a director/actor/dancer. I love making films, especially with my talented friends. Dance has always been a passion of mine so I've been trying to incorporate dance into film and theater more. Besides that, I love video games, board games, and D&D. I could play them for hours.

MEET THE ARTISTS: Eden Johnson

Eden Johnson is a 17-year-old trans poet and visual artist who spends their time trying to connect an audience unfamiliar or unable to explain the feeling of transhood to the thoughts and feelings of the group. using their own experiences and words to provide the relief that comes with respect and understanding they strive to note the positivities that come with being yourself in every uniqueness. they love books and art and spend their time writing and hanging out with friends.

MEET THE ARTIST: Candy Kuehn

Candy Kuehn invents wearable art, costumes, wall pieces, and sculptures in across numerous disciplines. She makes art pieces that are functional, reversible and have multiple uses that sometimes change with the passage of time. Many works live as well on the wall as they do on the body, on the ceiling, on the floor and on the stage. As a painter her mediums ranges from fabric dyes with paints, IPhone apps to ceramic glazes. Her work features whatever makes a person or piece moving and beautiful. Her work has appeared at the Textile Center of Minnesota’s Art- in-Motion shows, the St. Paul American Craft Council Fair and the Minnesota Craft Council Fair Market Place at the State Fair grounds. She has also created costumes for the dance theater company Ballet of the Dolls productions of “The Red Shoes,” “Enchanted Night,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Nutcracker (not so” Suite,”) and “Cinderella”. Candy was artist-in- residence in the Textile Center Dye Lab for 2007-2009 school years. Her digital photo drawings and portraits have been exhibited in many shows. Southeast Minneapolis Public Library had three shows and fabric installation in children’s area over six years, the Fine Art Show at the Minnesota State Fair for three years, and for WARM at several venues. She received honorable mention at the WARM 40th anniversary show. She created digital illustrations for large scale projections and costumes for the Interference Arts production "It is She Who I See”, and “Elijah”, and now an internet, Interference Arts music piece, ”Gone”, with composer, Craig Harris. Candy's "Human and Earth History" panels were selected to be part of the City of Hopkins' Art Street public art program, was seen on the outside wall of the Hopkins Center for the Arts, where she won Children’s Choice Award. Candy created costumes and large digital projection images for ‘Conviviere” and ‘The Palabras Project’ for Zorongo Flamenco, and costumes about Picasso’s earliest paintings, a Zorongo commission in New York City. Minneapolis Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood Association commissioned an electrical box cover, for ‘Fresh Boxes’ which can be seen in Dinkytown, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her digital works have shown in The Hudson Hospital Rehab Wing and Westfield Hospital in Wisconsin (again in Spring 2020) and a show in Owatonna Hospitals, Owatonna, Minnesota. Melissa Metzger, at Flow Arts Gallery, curated her work into several group shows. A digital work was also chosen for “The Paranormal Show” at Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts, Anoka, Minnesota and “National Parks; Personal Perspectives”, at The Phipps Center for the Art, Hudson, Wisconsin. She also had Solo shows at the Frank Stone Gallery, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Owatonna Art Center, Owatonna, Minnesota and most recently at the Hewing Hotel, for the Kolman Pryor Gallery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. also many years in the ON2 Gallery at the California Building, January-February.

We are looking for a wide range of Minnesota resident artists to share their art in our festival on April 30, 2022. Act ideas may include but aren’t limited to dance, poetry, short films/plays, and musicians.

ALL ART MUST BE THEMED AROUND GENDER EUPHORIA AND EACH ACT WILL RECEIVE A $100 STIPEND.

We are looking for Minnesota residents to showcase in our festival. We are looking to showcase a variety of acts (dance, short films, comedy sets, music, etc.) all focusing on the themes of gender euphoria and gender expression. All accepted acts will receive a stipend of $100.
