Wednesday to Friday we will be worshipping in Spanish again at the Southern Latin District Council in Greenville, SC. Looking forward to connecting with the devoted pastors and leaders from churches in North and South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. Dios es grande, Dios es fiel. God is great and he is faithful.
We had the privilege of speaking at Philadelphia Christian Center Sunday morning. They treated us like royalty! We are grateful for their prayers, support and partnership. We are blessed to have such good churches and people on our team.
Happiness is sharing a meal with a friend. Thank you to our sponsors, BGMC donors and Convoy of Hope. TeachFeedLove.org
Dear Friends and Sponsors of Teach Feed Love,
We appreciate you so much! Thank you for your prayers, your support, your offerings, and most of all, your love. We are your hands, feet and heart in the Dominican Republic. This month we are visiting the schools to bring presents to the children and to talk about the greatest gift, our Savior Jesus Christ.
Two weeks ago, we visited Constanza with the Liberty Ministries team. At the school we found 73 children eagerly waiting for us. They were very happy with their gifts. After lunch we visited our newest school, founded this month. They are another 30 minutes up in the mountains, at over 5000 feet elevation. We had to walk up and over the last hill, carrying backpacks for the 29 children, school supplies for the 2 teachers, and 55 bags of groceries to share with the impoverished families who work sporadically in agriculture. We had a glorious service in 3 languages and lots of smiles. That village is called La Culata.
Another highlight of the Liberty Ministries team was going to Ranchito with 70 bags of groceries to give to all the families in the area around the church, both Dominican and Haitian. The pastor did an excellent job counting the households and helping us distribute the groceries. Then we had a chapel service in the school and gave the children treats. This Friday we go back to give them their presents with another sponsor.
Friday, we visited Cutupu, our largest school, with 135 students. The director asked for 45 backpacks for those who didn’t have one, and the rest of the students received toys. We have been having fun going to the stores and buying the gifts. Thank you for making it possible!
This week will be our busiest. We have 3 schools to visit today, and 11 total by the end of the week. So please keep us in your prayers. Velvet, John and Karla from Missions Beyond are here to help. They have bought and wrapped many gifts. Yesterday we went to their apartment to pack 200 bags of candy. They had already done 400! We have over 800 students in the 15 schools!
Thank you again for your faithful support. You can donate online at https://teachfeedlove.org/ or send a check to TMCI, PO BOX 1761, Columbia, SC 29202.
God bless you so much. Enjoy the photos!

Dear Friends and Sponsors of Teach Feed Love,
Ministry is joy and sadness, hope and disappointment, fighting for justice, leaving it in the Lord’s hands, being thankful, praying without ceasing and just plain standing firm and not quitting. Our last two weeks in the Dominican Republic impacted me heavily. Here’s a glimpse.
There is joy in visiting a Haitian school. The kids receive us with hugs, handshakes, fistbumps and kisses. They were so excited with the puppet presentation by the group from Evangel Church in Massachusetts. The afternoon we walked into the school in La Laguna we all felt goosebumps as the children worshipped with pure hearts. The medical team weighed and measured them for our report to Convoy of Hope. I can tell the kids liked to be called by their names, seen, touched, and loved. Plus they liked the stickers and lollipops!
I saw hope as the group built two classrooms in the Cutupu school, and worked on the parsonage. The pastor now has 4 children and is looking forward to the day he can move in. We still need funds for the floor and windows. Mitch estimates another $10,000 is needed to finish it. The parsonage for Pastor Frantz is almost finished. With another $3000 the doors and windows can be bought and installed.
We were all sad to hear a teenage boy pray at the end of the program. He desperately cried out to the Lord for protection as he and his friends walked home from school. The children don’t know if they will be picked up by Immigration, or if their parents will be home, or if there is food in the house. We began to understand the uncertainty, instability and fear these children face daily.
While we were there a teacher and his wife were picked up by the Immigration officials. The director made a phone call, and we were told we could pay a fine and set them free. It was way out of my comfort zone to attempt this task, but we had a happy ending. Was that justice? Please help us pray for safety for our teachers, pastors and students and their families.
We are so thankful for your offerings and sponsorship, without which the schools could not operate. The ministry has a special request. We would like to give each child a present in January for Three Kings Day. Would you like to help make that possible? It will be a moment of great joy and excitement for the children to have a present, and it may very well be the only gift they receive this Christmas. We will buy the toys in the Dominican to save on shipping costs. Let me know if you have items to ship.
You can make your tax-deductible offering here, using your checking account or a credit card. For those who prefer to send checks, please make it out to Teach Feed Love, and send it to TMCI, PO BOX 1761, Columbia, SC 29202.
I have included some photos at the bottom of this email. You will see those happy faces, our American team and the projects in Barranca, Cutupu and El Pino. God is faithful! We are not quitting! Thank you for standing with us. We appreciate you.
Your missionaries,
Debbie and Mitch Martinez
We were blessed to share with Centro de Alabanza in Beaufort, SC with pastor Angel Santos. The children of this Spanish church raised over $1800 in BGMC funds. They are sending us $910 to provide food for the children in the Haitian schools. This is a missions church! Thank you! .org
We are on the road again. Traveling to Warner Robins, Georgia to speak in a church. Praying God will use us.
A hot meal at school makes all the difference.
Who says kids don’t like school?
No matter what size the table, the food brings thanksgiving to God! Our Haitian students say thank you!

Dear Friends and Sponsors of Teach Feed Love, our Haitian school program,
We are blessed by your prayers, visits, emails, offerings and friendship. Thank you for taking the time to read this short newsletter.
We told you in our last letter about our 3 days of parties with the Colorado team in early July. The same church sent a work crew the following week. They worked on the foundation of the school in El Pino. Now the walls are up to the bond beam, and very soon the roof will be on. Praise the Lord! Another good news, we received over $5000 in donations toward the project, thus meeting the matching fund challenge! Thank you for praying and giving.
Lots of children were blessed in the month of July by the teams. We ministered in El Pino and Barranca to a large group of kids. Many had never heard the story of Jonah. I was saddened to think how a whole generation is growing up with no Bible knowledge. Do your best to teach your children, grandchildren and those around you! The kids liked the stories and especially making tie-dye shirts.
The team from the Spanish church in Lilburn, GA was a huge blessing! They represented the US, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama and Peru! We had a three day VBS in Soto, with about 200 kids and adults by the third day. What a joy to see hands raised and heads bowed in prayer to accept the Lord! They also ministered in Haitian churches in Ponton and Constanza, plus they painted the outside of the church at Rose of Sharon! What a generous and hard-working team! They bought chairs for the Constanza and Ponton schools, and gave out backpacks to some very grateful children. It was such a joy to minister with them.
Remember your tax-deductible donations can be sent using your bank information or credit card at https://teachfeedlove.org/ Some of you donate to TMCI, thank you. If you use their link, https://www.tfaforms.com/4839484 make sure your offering is under missionary designation, and choose DR Schools, La Vega and Haitian. For those who like to write a check, please make it out to TeachFeedLove and send it to TMCI, PO BOX 1761, Columbia, SC 29202. I also receive payments through Zelle at [email protected]. I have noticed that some people signed up to be sponsors, but haven’t started sending their donations in yet. Please help us during the summer months so that we can pay the teachers. They depend on their small stipend. In July we were only able to pay 80%.
I hope you enjoy the photos! Thank you again for your sacrifice, your love and generosity and your prayers. God bless you and yours.

It’s back to school shopping time! Most kids in the Dominican can’t afford even a notebook. Would you like to do some shopping for us? We need pencils, sharpeners, pens, composition notebooks, crayons, colored pencils, erasers, notebook paper, folders and colored paper. They can be shipped to our Florida address where we can then ship them to the DR. Most online stores offer free shipping! Please message me if this is a project you care about.
Dear Sponsors,
Greetings from the Dominican Republic! I have lots of photos to share with you this month.
We had a fantastic team of 12 from Greater Life Church, NC in June. We ministered at La Vega Christian School, a final chapel for the elementary students, and also in five Haitian schools. Perhaps the most significant moment was when we visited a very poor Haitian family that has 4 children enrolled in the Rancho Viejo school. Carolina, the sponsor from North Carolina, wanted to meet her student and take her a present. We were all reminded how blessed we are, and how needy others are.
Last week we had the Timberline Student Ministries team of 19 here from Colorado. They helped us with the end of the year parties for the Haitian schools. We had worship, fun songs, a Bible lesson, presentations from the schools, then time for basketball, soccer, chalk drawing, coloring and the parachute. Last of all, a tasty meal. Rice and beans, chicken and salad for those who came in the morning, and pizza for the afternoon schools. They loved it! This is a highlight of the year for the students and the teachers, and for us, too. I met one boy, now 14, who was 6 when he started school. He had such a cute personality, I fell in love with Haitian children! It is good to know he is still in school. We took pictures of the kids from Rancho Viejo and Villa Tapia, so that they can have sponsors. Thank God we now have 125 students sponsored! But there are over 800 students. Help us pray and find more sponsors, please!
We received word that a church in South Carolina sent us an offering of $5,000 to help with the new school building in El Pino. They also gave us a challenge, to raise $5,000 more, which they will match. So far we have received $1,000 toward this challenge. Would you consider making an extra donation to help us get this school built by September? Please send me a note that it is for the El Pino project. The new team from Colorado is working on it this week.
Thank you for your many prayers on our behalf. Sadly, our friend Pastor Juan Ortiz passed away after an extended hospital stay. His health declined after he had Covid two years ago. Prayers are appreciated for his grieving family.
Remember your tax-deductible donations can be sent using your bank information or credit card at the giving page on our website. Some of you donate through TMCI, thank you. I hope you can feel some of the joy of the children in the photos below. Thank you for helping us teach, feed and love these precious children, in Jesus name. Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed. God bless you.
In Christ,
Debbie and Mitch Martinez and the Teach Feed Love team
Good news! A church in South Carolina sent us $5,000 to help build this new school in El Pino. They also offered to match other gifts up to $5000. Will you help us raise another $10,000? We want to finish this building by September!
Pastor Wilner wants the school to be built!
Dear Sponsors and Friends of Teach Feed Love,
I am writing to you from an airliner on our way back to our home in La Vega, Dominican Republic, after a 70 day stay in the US. We were blessed to visit with family in Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Maine. We attended several birthday parties, our oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation, a memorial service for my 99-year-old aunt, time with my two sisters, brother and their spouses, and my 95-year-old Dad and step mother. We were able to attend Palm Sunday and Easter services at American churches, visited supporting churches, met with future team members and thankfully gained some more sponsors for our precious Haitian school children. We had doctor appointments and I finally replaced the glasses I cracked when pruning a tree last year. It has been a very full spring! I was even blessed to smell the northern flowers, such as lilacs, lilies of the valley and peonies, flowers we don’t have in the DR.
These last few days have been busy packing up 4 boxes with books, school supplies, clothes, food and 3 sewing machines that were donated. We also organized the itineraries for the team from North Carolina coming in June, the 2 teams from Colorado coming in July, plus the team from the Atlanta area. The Dominican and Haitian churches are awaiting fun times with the American teams!
May I pass on a few prayer requests? Please pray that the teams are effective in ministry, that the Lord speaks to each and every member on each team, and that they are covered with health and safety. Please pray for Pastor Juan Ortiz, our first school director, who has been in the hospital for the last several weeks. Also pray for our Haitian helpers, Rutherford and Frantzou, who will be translating and helping with the teams. Also, please pray for the safety and well-being of our Haitian students and their families. Finally, please pray for an end to the violence and lawlessness in Haiti.
Thank you for your prayers, your love, and your donations that make a way for us to pay the teachers and provide food for the students. Please do not forget us during the summer months. We would like to pay the teachers through the summer, and we really need some miracle offerings to get back into the black and honor our commitments.
God bless you! Remember your tax-deductible donations can be sent using a the give page (link in comments). Some of you donate through TMCI, thank you. We receive all those offerings. For those who like to write a check, please make it out to “Teach Feed Love” and send it to Teach Feed Love c/o TMCI, PO BOX 1761, Columbia, SC 29202. I also receive donations through Zelle at [email protected].
Below you can find some of the photos I was sent this month from our school directors. You can see the promise in the eyes of the children. One of our pastors, Gesner from Ranchito, graduated from a 3 year Bible school. Next month I will send photos of our end of the year parties!
God bless you and yours,
Debbie and Mitch Martinez and the Teach Feed Love team
The kids at El Pino loved having singer Elio de Jesus bring some music and fun to the classroom! The song translated says "Forever I will praise you, forever I will adore you, you're the strength of my being, you are my everything, you are my KING! Hallelujah!"
Work is progressing on the school for the El Pino community. Praise the Lord!
Dear Sponsors and Friends of Teach Feed Love,
Here are some observations after hosting FOUR missions teams, and looking forward to FIVE more teams this summer.
What goes into a mission trip? From the sending church, a lot. A team leader has to volunteer to organize and train the group, communicate with the missionaries, make travel plans, help hammer out an itinerary, watch over the group, encourage the faint hearted, help raise funds. When on the mission field, that same leader is making sure people are participating in the group devotions, eating well, drinking enough water, staying healthy, have enough work to do but also time to rest. All the while this same leader is trying to set a good example by working harder than anyone else!
From the missionary’s side, a lot of preparation goes into making the week or 10 days a success. Plans have to be made with the local team of helpers and translators, bus drivers, the school directors and the pastors. All the dates have to be confirmed. The hotel or resort has to be reserved and confirmed. If lunches are being taken out to the worksite, that means daily shopping starting a week before the team arrives and when they are in the DR, preparing lunch at night and early in the morning, and getting it to the team on time. It means a lot of driving! Work materials such as tools, gloves, cement blocks, cement, rebar, paint, paint supplies, etc. etc. have to be purchased ahead of time and be on site. Meanwhile, the missionary is trying to think ahead to next week’s team, keep current with correspondence, enter all receipts into Excel, supervise the Dominican construction team, pay them every weekend, plus plan church services.
I forgot to mention the dozens of emails! And for everyone, it is important to have a servant’s heart and to be flexible.
I have included some photos of the Timberline team from March. They built a fence around the property in Limoncito, participated in two church services, painted the school in Cutupu-Rio Verde, but also had time to go to the beach and visit a waterfall. Our hats go off to the team leaders! Short-term missions teams make an eternal impact!
The other photos include the latest shipment of rice from Convoy of Hope with Frantzou, giving an offering to a pastor in Constanza whose house burned, thanks to the Calvary students, taking rice and a donation of chairs to Pastor Petit in Limoncito, and family photos.
Mitch and I are in the States for the months of April and May, visiting family and supporters, and getting some work done that we just can’t seem to do in the Dominican with so many interruptions. We enjoyed family time with our son Joshua and his family in Florida, and Paul and his family in North Carolina. Paul is the webmaster of TeachFeedLove.org., which focuses on the ministry to Haitian children. I hope you will check it out. Later in May we plan to visit family in New Jersey and go to our oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in Massachusetts.
Please pray for us as we travel and visit and also seek to strengthen our donor base and prayer support team. We are very grateful for your friendship and support. Thank you for making it possible for us to Teach and Feed and Love these precious children that God has given us. We are still moving ahead with construction of the school in El Pino and the parsonage for Frantz in Barranca. Soon Mitch and the team will start work on another parsonage in Rio Verde.
You can now easily send your one-time or recurring donationvia our website at: https://teachfeedlove.org/
We always need your prayers and appreciate your correspondence and calls. Let us know how we can pray for you.
God bless you always,
Debbie and Mitch Martinez
Please pray about sponsoring one of these precious students, only $25 a month. It makes all the difference to them.
The school in Rio Verde- Cutupu got a facelift thanks to the team from Colorado.
