Join us this Thursday to hear from the Honorable Judge Sherri Lydon, District Judges for the U.S. District Court of South Carolina! More information to come on room number!
The U.S. Supreme Court overturned both Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey today, ruling that there is no constitutional right to abortion. CLS submitted a brief in this case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, and commends the decision of the High Court to return the authority to regulate to the states, and ultimately, the people.
CLS’ Executive Director David Nammo shared, "Today is a great day for life, a day for which many have fought for far too long. The Roe decision has long been regarded as overreaching and political. Today is a day to start anew. We encourage every person to value life today – all life – including the lives of those that disagree with you. While today is emotional for many, we believe good is ahead."
We hope this decision brings good and continue to welcome all who are interested in CLS at UofSC Law!
For those who are struggling with guilt or confusion on this topic: Whatever the past is, in Christ there is new life, the old is gone and the new has come.
"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."
John 3:17-18 NIV
If you are interested in holding a leadership position, please submit your candidate statement on or before April 5! Feel free to reach out with any questions!

📣Today is the FINAL day to apply for the CLS Law Student Fellows Program this summer.📣This week-long, *all expenses paid* program is designed for law student seeking a deeper understanding of the nature and sources of human law. The week will provide theological and philosophical tools for a mission-minded approach to legal study and law practice. U of SC Law has sent three students to the Fellows program over the last few years.
Hear from our Outreach Chair Brittany Roberts, ‘21 CLS Fellow:
“The CLS Fellows program was the best thing I did in law school, not just for my journey as a student, but also as a Christian. I gained practical information about navigating the practice of law as a Christian and explored topics of Christian jurisprudence that I’d never considered before. Not only that, but I gained 38 of my closest friends! If you are feeling led to this program, even in the slightest, I highly encourage you apply!”
You are welcome to join in person tomorrow from 6-7 PM in the Karen J. Williams Courtroom! Additionally, CLS will meet Thursday during the lunch hour in room 131 to discuss with our members about our next steps! Feel free to reach out!

Many of these churches are attended by at least one of our e-board members, so if you are interested in trying a church and don’t want to sit alone, DM us to find out who attends the church you’re interested in!
