👩🏽🌾Farm Update👩🏽🌾
I would like to announce that The Good Life Farm will be closing its doors as of this week. It is a bitter sweet ending to a beautiful learning experience that I am so happy to have shared with you all. In 6 months I have met so many wonderful people and have received such tremendous support. Thank you so much to everyone that believed in my wild dream. I would like to especially thank for being an amazing farm to table restaurant and purchasing what ever vegetables I had available each week, for mentoring me through the incubator farm, and ._brown for answering all my thousands of questions and giving me all the Cola connections, for setting up a fantastic farmers market, and especially to all my customers, you’re the reason that I grow veggies!
While the Good Life Farm is closing, I am not giving up on farming! I am excited to be accepting an assistant manager position at , a 12 acre certified organic, no-till, bio-intensive vegetable farm in Chester, SC. I will be working alongside an amazing team of farmers to deliver veggies to the Rock Hill and Charlotte area. I am so excited to continue farming and learning more and more about how to better produce nutrient rich veggies in a way that is beneficial for our environment. You can continue to follow along on my journey

Hi All!
I will not be at Salem Church this Friday as harvests are slim.
While looking at my okra this week I was baffled as to why many of my plants had no leaves. I decided to pull up one and check out the roots. You can see in the second photo the nodules and bumps along the roots. These are caused by parasitic nematodes that feed on the plant roots and prevent the plant from being able to uptake nutrients. Unfortunately, these nematodes seem to be everywhere in my field! They have affected tomatoes, carrots and now okra, and I suspect my eggplant. I am working to improve my soil by amending with compost, adding organic matter and cover cropping with species of plants that the nematodes do not feed on to hopefully rid my growing area of these pests.
I thank you so much for the continued support as I navigate the best ways to organically grow vegetables and manage pests.
Hi all! This week I will be taking a break from markets and will not be at Blythewood on Wednesday or Salem on Friday. I’m taking this week to rest a bit and prep the farm for fall plantings. I will see you all next week!!
Feeling overwhelmed. Farming is hard and it is 7 days a week, no days off. Whether it’s a holiday or not, plants keep growing.
I’ve been reminding myself this past week that I just reached my one year anniversary as a farmer 👩🌾 and I’m in my 4th month as a business owner 👶🏼! I am trying to slow down and let go of expectations. But It’s hard! You only get one try each year to have a good crop of certain vegetables (ahem tomatoes, I’m looking at you) but sometimes pests have other plans.
I have gained buckets of knowledge this past year and I look forward to the future where I continue to improve and grow 🌱
We’re feeling the heat of summer now! Missing those 60 degree days we had in June! 🥵🥵
Tomatoes inter-planted with marigolds and peppers inter-planted with scallions to keep the pests away and to make the most of my half acre!

Love trying my hand at baking! Usually it’s a flop, but this one turned out delicious! Tomato galette with gruyere cheese and elephant garlic 🧄 🧀 🍅
Peppers lookin cute too! Purple peppers coming soon!
Eggplant lookin cute!

I went a little crazy seeding tomatoes and peppers and would love to share these lovely plants with everyone. It’s not too late to plant these veggies and they will give you delicious and unique additions to your garden.
I have:

Purple Beauty Bell Peppers
Clementine Cherry Tomatoes
Pink Berkley Tie Dye Tomatoes
Chefs Choice Orange Tomatoes
They are $2 each or 3 for $5

Real food comes dirty, yes, with the occasional bug on it. This doesn’t alarm me. What’s more alarming is seeing mounds of perfect fruits and vegetables in stores with zero bug damage. You know that’s not natural, right?
After ONE year of gardening, battling pests and learning to wash them off my food and eat it with a few holes in it, I started to really wonder, “What in the heck are they putting on that conventional produce to make it so unappealing to insects and do I really want to feed that to my family?”
In order to (hopefully) have a continuous supply of veggies to harvest, we have to continuously start new seeds. So far I have filled and emptied the green house three times with seedlings to transplant in the field. Here’s some pics of the current green house happenings
1//starting squash seeds
2//trying to keep track of all the different seeds
3//basil springing up
4//a sea of tomatoes ready to be transplanted

I knew my holey leaves tasted better 😉
Bug attacks make organic fruits and veg healthier - Futurity The wounds that insects give plant leaves release antioxidants and makes organic fruits and vegetables healthier for people to eat.
I’m so grateful for the continuous support from my family as we build this farm! Picture:
1//My “Maxi-Me” surprised me by helping w**d in the foggy/potentially rainy morning. I’ve often been called my Mom’s “Mini-Me” so today she decided she will be “Maxi-Me”😂
2//Aaron assembling the second hoop house which will house more tomatoes and lettuce! He’s so amazing, he did this all by himself! So grateful 🙏🏽
3//Our new w**d free walkways (well our first one). We have a lot of wood chip spreading to do. I received a free load from , the best service ever and recycled cardboard from and we’re on our way to clean, w**d free walkways. @ Clemson University Sandhills Research Center
Don’t forget to order your veggies! This is week we have a limited, first-harvest of summer squash! We’ll have a mix of patty pan, yellow, and green squash. We also have salad greens and of course RADISHES!

These cucumbers are ready to climb! I caught this one with the most perfect little curly tendril 🌀
Happy Hawaiian shirt monday!
Radishes anyone? I’ve got a mountain of them! I swear I’m growing other things, they’ll be here soon! 🥒🥬🥕🌶 @ The Good Life Farm
Radish inspiration! Unsure how to use french breakfast or sora radishes? They are super versatile! In this photo they are served sliced on buttered toast with a poached egg (a breakfast for the french!). Roasted they become more mellow and sweet and can be mixed with brussels sprouts or other roasted root veggies. They’re also a favorite to dice and toss on tacos. They’re not just for salads 😋
Hope you’re having a good week! Don’t forget to order your salad greens 🥬 I’ve updated the time to 4-7 to give an extra hour for pick up. Head to www.thegoodlifefarmSC.com to shop. @ The Good Life Farm

Today’s addition: a mountain of compost! This is our greatest investment by far for the farm and we believe it’s worth it. We’re excited to incorporate all of this black gold from our local into our fields. By adding compost we’re improving organic matter and naturally provided nutrients to our veggies

Good Food to Good People
The Good Life Farm is a diversified vegetable farm providing organically grown, nutritionally dense produce to Columbia SC.
TGL Farm was founded by Audrey Lecordier in 2020. After a short-lived career as a software engineer, Audrey realized her passion had always been in growing. She had studied Horticulture in college and had a lifetime of gardening experience but wasn’t exposed to small scale agriculture until reading The Market Gardener (a wonderful resource, I’d recommend to anyone) in 2018. She spent months researching and fantasizing about farming before making the leap to quit her job and pursue farming. For one year, she apprenticed at two different farms in Atlanta. Both were small-scale, diversified vegetable farms but had totally different growing methods. The beautiful thing about farming is that there are a million and one different ways to do it.
After finding an amazing opportunity to grow at the Incubator Farm at Clemson Sandhills Research and Education Center, Audrey returned home to Columbia, SC.
TGL Farm is dedicated to growing food in the best way possible for people and the environment. We go beyond organic growing practices and will never use harmful chemicals or pesticides. Our goal is to farm in a way that improves the soil in order to produce food that is resilient to insects as well as climate. We are proud of the way we grow and are happy to answer any questions you may have about our farming practices.
