ACDA - University Of South Carolina
Welcome to the home page for the University of South Carolina’s collegiate chapter of ACDA (American Choral Directors Association). (www.acda.org)
Founded in 1959, the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) is a nonprofit music-education organization whose central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching. In addition, ACDA strives through arts advocacy to elevate choral music's position in American society.
It was a great day for choral music! We’re grateful to the educators who spent their last Saturday of summer with us at the first Summer Reading Session, hosted by ACDA at USC! We read over 40 pieces, learned how to evaluate repertoire, and discovered new resources for finding repertoire. Thank you to Dr. Jabarie Glass for presenting today. We’re looking forward to presenting this event again next year!
We hope you all are having a great summer or at least as much fun as we did at FACETS. FACETS is a leadership retreat for female conductors. Two of our executive board members joined Dr. Walker and attended the retreat in Highlands of North Carolina. Dr. Walker facilitated a fantastic retreat on “Becoming an Extraordinary Leader,” including several valuable sessions, conducing coachings, reading sessions of pieces from Jocelyn Hagen’s “Compose Like a Girl” initiative, and a Q&A with composer Jocelyn Hagen! What better way to enjoy summer than with the mountains and gaining tools to become a successful leader!!

Thank you, Mr. Harley-Emerson, for imparting your wisdom with our chapter today.

The USC Student Chapter of ACDA is doing amazing things! I'm proud to sponsor them and support their attendance at the National Conference in Minneapolis!
Hello Friends, Family, and Collegues!
The ACDA Student Chapter at the University of South Carolina is currently raising money to go to the National ACDA Conference Spring of 2017 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Our student chapter will be piloting ChorTransform, a Service Learning Program that connects undergraduate and graduate students with choral programs in local secondary schools. This program serves to connect future teachers to underserved schools in their community, as well as provide teaching experience in secondary schools. We hope to continue this program in the years to come at our University, and eventually take it national, to ACDA student chapters all over the United States.
Your donation goes towards funding our student members' trips to the National Convention, where we hope to spread the word about ChorTransform.
Any donation is a great donation. We thank you for your support!
