It's not just a stereotype - we really do rescue cats from trees! 🐈🌳

This afternoon, CFD was dispatched to respond to a small animal rescue. Firefighter Tuggle from Ladder 2 was able to successfully return the feline to its family.

What a purr-fect ending! 🐱

Animal rescues are overwhelmed by the number of calls for help! For example, Warrensburg Cat Advocates recently shared a post about 150 cats they are trying to help. The two rural properties started with just a few cats and now they have multiplied to a staggering 150 cats needing help. Can you imagine the expense of trying to help that many animals, and some that are sick and need medical attention? Please help us continue to educate about the importance of spay/neuter programs.

We often get comments from individuals feeling eartips are inhumane. Eartips are done for all feral cats/cats who come in live traps to our clinic. This signals to those unfamiliar with the cat that he/she has been spayed/neutered.

Pennie Lane is one cool spayed pup! Look at that grin! We always say "neuter is cuter" so we need to come up with something for the girls. What fun saying can we use for the girls? Give us some suggestions in the comment section.

It is that time of year. It is raining kittens! When we stumble upon a litter of kittens, our good hearted nature tells us to jump in and scoop them up. Thankfully human intervention is typically not required.

Watch and wait! Momma is usually not too far away and may be out hunting. If the kittens are less than 3-4weeks, leave the kittens alone for a 3-4 hours. Older kittens can be left alone overnight. You can put cat food near the kittens for the mom and a box for the mom to place her kittens inside. It is also advisable to start feeding momma if you are not already feeding her. This will help her care for her kittens.
