Supported living had a blast at Camp Takimina gathering around the campfire to make s'mores and, ofcourse, share lots of laughs. 🍫

The Disability Caravan made its way to Columbia to rally for disability activism and advocacy today! Thank you to everyone who came out in the rain to show their support — including local agencies, County Clerk Brianna Lennon, State Representative Kathy Steinhoff, and County Commissioner Janet Thompson.

The Disability Caravan is in St. Louis and making it's way to Columbia to rally for disability activism and advocacy! Come to the BCFR main office at 2700 W Ash from 10-11:30am this Monday, Aug. 12 to gather and show your support! ❤️🤍💙

Join BCFR, People First of Boone County and other local agencies for a visit from The Disability Caravan for Freedom and Justice! They will be stopping at the BCFR parking lot on August 12 from 10a.m. to 11:30a.m.

People First of Boone County will be hosting a voter registration table and there will be some light refreshments and informational flyers.

The Governor’s Council on Disability (GCD) has launched its annual Poster Contest for National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), which is celebrated nationwide in October each year, to raise awareness about the importance of employment inclusion and highlighting the important contributions of individuals with disabilities to the workforce.

The theme for 2024 NDEAM is Access to Good Jobs for All!

• Participate by submitting original artwork relating to disability employment, inclusion and community
• All artwork entries will be featured on the GCD website
• The winning artwork will be featured on the 2024 GCD NDEAM poster, which is distributed statewide!
• The 2024 GCD NDEAM poster will be featured on the GCD website, social media, GCD Newsletter, and GCD annual report
Artwork entries must be received before September 15.

Speakers will share how work income affects disability benefits. New inclusive park to be built in Holts Summit - ABC17NEWS The City of Holts Summit and Callaway County Special Services announced on Wednesday a new partnership to build an inclusive park.

We Build Unique Independent Lives Together (WeBUILT) believes that every person deserves to live at their highest level of independence within a community setting. The thought is, if your house was just right, everything would be easier. To achieve this WeBUILT focuses on meeting each individual’s sensory and specific needs. Staff enjoyed the rewards from fundraisers for Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue in June where they raised $700 for the local nonprofit through penny wars and a bake sale. These puppies are all looking for good homes! 🐶🐾

From understanding the basics of fire prevention to practicing the use of fire extinguishers, our team learns invaluable skills to ensure a safe environment for everyone. A huge thank you to our local heroes for their time, expertise, and commitment to keeping our community safe!

UMSL Office of Inclusive Postsecondary Education and Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council is conducting an anonymous and voluntary survey, and the responses are confidential. The survey responses will be used to identify barriers and strategies related to disability legislative advocacy. They will raffle five $35 Amazon gift cards at the close of the survey for participants who complete it.
