Our hearts are with Mrs. S Jumper and sweet Cat as they celebrate a guilty verdict and forever mourn their hero husband and father.
Almost two years ago this agency lost one of its finest.
Sgt. William Conley Jumper Jr. was killed when a suspect attempted to flee a traffic stop.
Yesterday a GUILTY verdict was reached in the trial for the man accused of killing him. He will serve life in prison.
This week Jumper’s loved ones had to relive that fateful day, sitting feet away from the man that took his life, as they watched footage and heard details no loved one ever should. Jumper’s fellow deputies and friends that lived those last moments with him had to take the stand and testify on things they will never be able to erase from their memories. They showed bravery and courage and I am proud of the way they honored their fallen comrade.
While that verdict brings some closure in the fight for justice, Sgt. Jumper’s family and friends, our GCSO agency, and our community, continue to mourn his loss.
We will never forget Jumper, or his brave service to Greenville County.
You can rest now Tango 31, justice has been served.

We are praying for our first responders in Florida. Please feel free to send updates in the comments if you’re living in the path of the hurricane.
“Wife and I had a kid free evening tonight so we decided to order door dash and watch a movie.
The door bell rang, I look at the camera, and notice it’s an Alvin Police Department police officer at the door. I rush to the door thinking something’s wrong with one of the kids. (Cop at the door at night means only one thing to a first responder.) I swing open the door and the office says “good evening, did you order door dash?”
Yes… I said completely confused. “Well your door dash drivers going to jail, but I wanted to get you your food.” 😂😂. I laughed, he laughed, what an awesome thing to do to go out of your way like that. I’ve always said we have some of the best officers around. Tonight, was a great laugh. Thank you APD!!! My door dasher still says “arriving” I don’t think that’s the case!”

I want to thank our friend from church, Craig, for taking this beautiful picture in front of the church where Austin Aldridge attended youth group with our daughter.
This was along the procession today as he was laid to rest. Every single day I’m not handed an American flag is precious, but my heart aches for Jessica and all those who loved Deputy Aldridge & will spend the rest of their lives missing him.
As a community of cops wives, it is never lost on us that this could be our future, beginning at any moment. We continue to stand in solidarity, as hero support, in the love of Christ.
As we pray for his family, friends, and brothers and sisters in blue, we also praise God that the faith of Austin Aldridge has become sight.
“When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!”
Austin was a sweet kid, then a good man, then forever remembered as a hero. It’s beyond gut wrenching to watch members of my own family, my own church, my own sheriffs department, and my own community mourn such a tremendous loss.
Austin was a father-to-be, a friend, a son, husband, a family member, a church member, a community member, and a deputy who was ambushed and murdered because of the star he wore… the same exact star my husband has worn for 22 years since Austin was 3 years old.
To say he’s gone too soon or that this was a senseless tragedy… those will be the understatements of a lifetime.
The last time a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s deputy was murdered in a line of duty, Kevin returned fire and his murderer was killed in the shootout as well. This time, not only will Spartanburg County bury a brother, but those who mourn will also have to endure a murder trial.
There are a lot of hard days ahead for those who love Austin Aldridge as his daughter will soon be born into a world without him, but the Evil that took him will not prevail.
We ask you to join our community in prayer over all those who will be negatively affected by this inconceivable loss. Ask God to draw close to Jessica and her baby girl and she faces the unthinkable as her new reality. Pray that his family is comforted in knowing that they will see him again when they too are home and healed. Help us to raise prayers of safety, provision, and protection for Austin‘s brothers and sisters in blue.
May God receive the glory and all things… even horrific losses. Thank you, Jesus, for making a way for us all to be reunited in Glory with you.
When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!
How do we define the legacy of a man? Do we look at the life he lived,or do we look at how he died?
I think it’s a little of both and when you are dancing with the devil in the pits of hell staring the demons face to face and never back down, because you know of the greater good and you will stand in the way of evil. That my friends is a legacy that anyone would be proud of. B-22 rest easy sir
“A woman called the station hysterical. She was on the phone with her boyfriend who was saying his last goodbyes. He informed her that he was in his vehicle and was going to kill himself.
Officers began looking for the boyfriend’s vehicle and located it in a parking lot in West Plymouth.
The man had taken a heavy-duty chain, wrapped it around a tree, and padlocked it. Sitting in his driver’s seat, he triple-wrapped, then secured the chain around his neck.
Officer Roth was the first to arrive and saw the vehicle inching forward. He was able to coax the man to stop.
Officer Torrance and Sgt. Reddington arrived. They quickly found out that the man was a USMC Veteran and was suffering from PTSD.
As Officer Torrance and Sgt. Reddington were talking to the man, Officer Whelan quickly pulled his cruiser in front of the vehicle to stop forward movement. He exited his cruiser, then pulled a second cruiser in front of the vehicle.
Sgt. Reddington, a USMC Veteran, and Officer Torrance, A Navy Veteran, were able to share stories with the man, forming a bond that only Veterans can.
Eventually, they were able to coax the man into putting the vehicle in park, giving up his keys, handing over a razor, and finally were allowed to take the chains from his neck.
Needless to say, this incident was extremely emotional for all involved.
Veteran’s PTSD could not be more real. We have seen it hundreds of times with our Brave Veterans in Plymouth over the past couple of decades. Hug your Veteran. Love your Veteran. Take care of your Veterans.
Once again, this is only one incident that our Officers respond to. Studies show that the average Police Officer goes on 200 critical/horrific incidents throughout the course of their careers. (Most American citizens witness 1.5 according to the study).
We commend the job that our Officers do on a daily basis.
Excellent Job Officers Torrance, Whelan, Roth, and Sergeant Reddington. You gentlemen saved another life.”
- Plymouth Police Department
It is with tremendous grief that I share this graphic that our department published this morning.
It’s my understanding that the last conversation Deputy Aldridge initiated with my husband, he wanted to share that he knew our daughter and that they had spent time together with other young people from church.
I share this as a reminder that every single police officer is not just one thing, they are church members, family members, community members, and friends.
Many of us know from experience that these types of losses get far more painful in the days and weeks to come. We are incredibly thankful that God sees us in our heartache and provides an opportunity for us to lean into Him… even in unimaginable grief.
We ask humbly for your prayers as a family, a church, a community, and a department heal from the loss of a 25 year old American hero.
To God be the glory in all things.
Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Romans 8:38-39 “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
I come as humbly as I know how to ask you to pray for our own department, blue line family and community, here in Spartanburg County.
Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Romans 8:18 “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.”
Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.”
Happy Father’s Day to our heroes! 🖤💙🖤
Dad,
My heart is heavy today. It marks a week since you’ve transitioned.
As I reflected through my tears this morning, I was reminded about one of our trips coming back from your bi-weekly chemo appointments at Duke Medical Center.
We heard a siren and saw a blue light coming behind us. I immediately looked down and to the sign on my right to see what speed I was doing and the speed limit. I then realized that the speed limit changed from what I was previously going by.
When asked by the officer, I apologized and admitted that I didn’t see the change in the limit. I immediately complied and provided my license and registration upon request.
As you always did, you quickly jumped in to my defense. Your voice was low as you were still a little weak from treatment. You shared with him that I was your baby girl and we were returning to SC from your cancer treatments in NC. The officer nodded and went back to the car.
When he came back, he asked you if he heard correctly that you had cancer. Once you confirmed, the officer took a deep breath. He sighed and said that he too had loved ones who battled cancer as well. He asked if he could pray with you. You welcomed the prayers with gratitude and informed him that you’re a deacon of your church. You proudly shared your love for Christ and your belief that God’s will would be done. When you all were done, there was a small silver cross that he placed in your hand for you to keep with you as a symbol of your faith.
I asked you what made you share your health and you responded that you would never want me to be penalized for taking care of you.
Though I told you that I didn’t mind accepting the consequences and would be totally fine paying the ticket, you said that you wouldn’t want it on your conscious.
The officer gave me my items with a warning ticket that day, and said that he would continue to pray for you on your journey.
You didn’t know I captured this picture in the moment but I did it so it could continue to remind me of two things:
1- You always protected me even through your final days; and
2- You were a fighter, firm believer in Christ, and a praying warrior.
I’m so grateful for your love, guidance, and example. Heartfelt thanks to this officer who prayed for and with you that day.
