As we continue to celebrate 10 years this week, we’re excited to share our 10th Anniversary video, which premiered at our Gala back in June. This video highlights the incredible journey of Phyllis Williams and her daughter Aiyanna.
Aiyanna received a dance scholarship in 2015 and was named our first Star Kid at our inaugural Gala the next year. Today, Phyllis serves on our board, where her role includes meeting with families to award scholarships, just like Aiyanna once received. And Aiyanna? She’s now studying nursing at Stephens College, where she played college vollyeball!
Shout out to another amazing board member, Jeff Blumer (Blumer Photography & Videography) for putting his incredible creative talents to work on this video!
Here’s to the next 10 years of dreaming BIG! 💙
10 years ago, the first Day Dreams Foundation Board of Directors held its Annual Meeting and celebrated receiving the organization's Articles of Incorporation from the State of Missouri. As you can probably tell from the photo, that original small group was fairly young - but each of them cared deeply about eliminating financial barriers to extracurriculars in Columbia.
10 years later, the tiny little grass roots organization they started, has now awarded more than $450,000 to cover activity fees and equipment costs to 823 local kids.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
