We are sad to share that Michael Goldschmidt, who had previously served on our Board of Directors, has died. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. May his memory be for a blessing.
It is with incredible sadness that we share the news that our beloved professor, Michael Goldschmidt, passed away suddenly this morning. Known as ‘Goldy’ to those that were fortunate enough to work with him in Stanley Hall or through MU Extension, Michael’s positive and distinct personality will forever resonate through the studios and culture of the Department of Architectural Studies, the University of Missouri, and the East Campus Neighborhood. He was brilliant and kind and a fierce advocate for each of us. His passion for design, sustainability, and improving the world is something that we will all continue to be inspired by. We will keep you updated on events as we celebrate him and honor his legacy. We send our deepest condolences to his family. (This incredible painting was created by our colleague, Dr. Benyamin Schwarz, and is shared with his permission.)

For Alissa, Mizzou Hillel is a place where students are accepted no matter what🤍
“Hillel is a safe space for me on campus, where, regardless of my level of faith, I am welcomed as a Jew and treated as an equal. The openness that Hillel creates for students like me who come from torn backgrounds and complicated political positions allowed me to be able to maintain my participation in the Jewish community without feeling like I wasn’t Jewish enough, or worrying that I had to censor myself. Hillel has done a great job of including every kind of Jew who feels they need to be there, and I am so, so grateful to Jeanne and Hillel for what they have done for me since I came to study at Mizzou. Hillel Mizzou is a resource that should be treasured.”
Tomorrow is the LAST DAY to have your gift be matched when you donate using the link in our bio (give.hillel.org/missouri). Help us continue creating a safe space for Jewish Tigers this 🌎✡️ Thank you!

For Aaron, Mizzou Hillel makes it easy to engage with the Jewish community and his Jewish identity while being far from home🏠
“I joined Hillel because being Jewish has always been a part of my identity... It’s something that I needed to feel connected, being so far away. So when I decided to come to the University of Missouri, I toured Hillel, and then from there I became part of leadership, doing some of the internships and just working with all the amazing people here. It means home for me because being so far away it gets scary, it’s really hard to be so far away from my family and from home, so it’s a home away from home… It’s a place we all come in, relax, have food, meet some great people, so it’s a home away from home. That’s what Hillel means to me.”
