The “Submerged Phone Booth.” These iconic constructions are going extinct due to an ever evolving technological world. Thus, Banksy’s depiction is thought to represent the demise of such mechanisms in our modern world of communication, as well as, our ability to withstand and overcome these external pressures.
A literal representation of “the elephant in the room”. Banksy painted this magnificent animal to match the wallpaper in the room in which it was originally exhibited. The piece itself is meant to represent poverty, which is often ignored by society as a whole.
“Rage, the Flower Thrower” is painted on the wall that separates Israel from Palestine. However, it originally appeared on the side wall of a car dealership garage in Jerusalem. This Banksy piece represents the ambush of the Gay Pride Parade participants in 2005. The black and white man depicts the protestors and the rainbow bouquet alludes to the gay pride flag. Both of which come together to embody the hope of a peaceful resolution.
