Jeffrey Mining Machinery Company
The continuous search for Jeffrey employees goes on, along with the preserving of the Jeffrey Mining Machinery's history.
Enjoy seeing the support of employees, family of employees, friends of Jeffrey's, and the Jeffrey family.
With a heavy heart, I sorry to say that Gerry Duncan has passed away. We both graduated from North High School in 1970, then both joined the Navy. We hung around together with Jim Schlegel, Charlie Bangs. and myself, Randy Holton.

Does anyone remember the Jeffrey club house and where it was? Does the building still exist and what is it now?
I am always amazed that people go to great lengths to return Jeffrey Manufacturing memorabilia back to Columbus. This recent artifact was featured in Spring JR&S and made it's way from British Columbia to Columbus by plane, train, boat, and automobile.
Does anyone remember Glenn Gooding, who was in sales around 1950 to the 60's? If so, do you have any pictures of him?

This article, about the Coal Mine Exhibit at COSI, appeared in the September 23, 1973 Columbus Dispatch. I hope you can read the tiny text. The 38,000 lb. loading machine shown on the cover was reassembled at COSI by volunteer Jeffrey employees. These individuals contributed nearly a thousand hours of their own time to the project. Were you one of those people?
Several months ago, I stopped at the Jeffrey Co, to see some of the added items to their archives. The history continues to grow!

This is an amazing discovery that was found in the sea in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, Philippines. Joyce Milagrosa, from the Philippines shared these pictures. They found two of these. Anyone know what they are used for? Thank you Joyce. Google the location.
While attending an antique equipment festival near West Brownsville PA , Phil Furrow happened to find this restored 8 ton Jeffrey Mining locomotive working at a demonstration coal mine loadout.
Phil worked for Jeffrey from June 1975 thru October 1982. Phil was a production control clerk and spent most of his time working in Departments 25 and 27. Press and flame cutting departments respectively.
Thanks for the photos, Phil!
This would be a great time to support the American Legion, that was named after Malcolm and Walter Jeffrey! I plan on being there. Put in on your calendar!
614 Magazine had an article in August of 2021 concerning a public art installation that pays tribute to the manufacturing legacy of Columbus, Ohio. Jeffrey Manufacturing is specifically mentioned in this article (link below). Enjoy these photos of "The Makers Monument".

Come and see the WWI Jeffrey display at the Central Ohio Military Museum at 1010 High Street in Harrisburg, Ohio. Mike Hayes visited the museum, before his passing, sharing the story of Jeffrey's involvement in the military. Bob Traphagan is a very enthusiastic curator, who has a very cool collection, covering all wars. http://thecomm.org/
On this Memorial Day, remember the troops from Jeffrey Mining Machinery who fought in World War 1.
Here are some Jeffrey logos. Do you recognize any of these?
A fun picture of "Jeffrey Senior Leadership" from our archives. What's with the hats?
(l-r) C. D. Ford, General Foreman; C. W. Miller, Secretary; Joe Dierdorf, Superintendent; J. A. Jeffrey, H. B. Dierdorf, General Superintendent; Andy Ruffersberger, Bookkeeper - c. 1927/28
Who knows who all of these folks are? These were from somewhere between 1979 and 1980, and were offered by Loretta Roeder - Hill.
Remember the Colmol?
We are in the process of locating some of Jeffrey's mining machines to put on display at the old Jeffrey site. If you know of anything, please let us know.
We are sorry to announce the passing of Don Blair. On July 26, 2021, Don attended an event to honor Mike Hayes and spend time with other Jeffrey Alum. He is pictured front row and fourth from the left. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Did you ever own any of these items during your employment at Jeffrey? Mike Hayes family graciously donated his Jeffrey archives to The Jeffrey Company for safe keeping. These items belonged to his father.
Aaron Adkins who is a 4th generation American, living in the middle of nowhere, in Kenya, Africa, sent us these photos that he took at an abandon construction site. He Googled Jeffrey and found us. This was apparently made in Johannesburg by Jeffrey Galion. It's a Model 3000, with a serial number 64. Can anyone else give us any information about this piece of equipment? Approximate year? Thank you Aaron!
I understand that many of you knew Danny Sparks. I was informed that he passed away on March 11th of this year. If you have any stories about Danny, please share them.
Interesting article about Fred Behmer, Jeffrey Manufacturing photographer in the Columbus Dispatch.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Does anyone remember Jeffrey Crushers? Did anyone work on them? We recently discovered that one is still in operation at a power plant in Australia. Jeffrey lasts!
