Barry Jones on Orchid Judging
Our August Speaker is Barry Jones, an AOS Judge for the Cincinnati Judging Center. You may remember Barry from a zoom meeting in early 2022, where he shared a great presentation about orchid judging, but told us the best way to really learn about judging is to do it in person. Barry will be joining us again in August to speak in person on judging, and to show us how it is done in person. We will have an actual AOS judging at our meeting in August! Bring your very best blooming plants, there is a chance it could win an AOS award! This is a great opportunity to understand how orchids are judge and see it happen in real time.
Barry and his wife Jane have been growing orchids for over 40 years, many species of Dendrobiums, Bulbophyllums, as well as many other unique orchids. He has been an AOS judge for over 25 years.
Diplomeris hirsuta (Lindl.) Lindl. Blooms in July/August. (This photographic evidence is part of a research program to document all the orchid species in the eastern Himalaya (Indian side) region, bring those onto one platform for referral studies, and help conservation-related activities.)

🌹Catasetum macrocarpum 🌹
Catasetum macrocarpum é nativa do Pará, Acre, Amazonas, Amapá, Roraima, Tocantins e Mato Grosso.
CULTIVO:
🌹Gosta de ficar fixo em madeira com as raízes livres ou amarradas em árvores a minha está numa árvore de canela;
🌹luminosidade: o dia inteiro a pleno sol ou numa parte com muita luminosidade no seu orquídario;
🌹Regas não é exigente com regas, pode molhar quando as raízes estiverem secas, mas tolera um bom período de seca;
🌹 É perfumado, a fragrância é semelhante a hortelã.
