I would like to take this opportunity to commend the heroic actions of Sergeant Suli Sene, Corporal Chad Bohannon, and Deputy Jeremy Gilmer, of the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 5, 2024, these three individuals were working a scene on River Road, when they were approached by a male requesting help for an injured individual. Upon approaching a residence on Apex Drive, an injured female was located. Her arm was badly cut from a window and bleeding profusely. She had two people attempting to apply pressure to the wound to no avail. Blood continued to drench the residence. The deputies radioed for EMS and in the interim began offering first aid. They located a towel to attempt to put more pressure on the wound, but the individual began to feel weak and dizzy. Deputies were able to successfully locate a tourniquet and apply it to the wound to stop the bleeding. EMS arrived and the individual was transported to Piedmont Hospital.

I have personally seen the gruesome photos of this incident and there is no doubt that this woman would have bled to death had the deputies not intervened when they did. This is a prime example of never knowing what you may come across while on duty. These deputies rushed into the situation without regard to their personal safety to render aid to an injured female. Their courageous efforts prevented a deadly tragedy. I am extremely proud of each of them for saving this young woman’s life.

Job well done to you all!
