Ologie
Ologie is a marketing and branding agency dedicated to advancing education.
We help colleges, universities, and schools build their reputations, recruit new students, and gain philanthropic support. We do this through a digital-first mindset, targeted marketing strategies, and emotional storytelling - all working together to drive tangible results and change lives.
This morning our social justice collective spent some time shopping for Operation Backpack, an initiative to fill in the gap for children experiencing homelessness, poverty, and otherwise underprivileged circumstances. They provide backpacks, school supplies, and funding for academic enrichment to unhoused and underprivileged children to ensure they achieve success despite their circumstances. š§”
Last week, our research and strategy team spent a couple of days together in the office making internal workshop magic. With our hybrid work schedule and Ologists spread out across the country, time spent together in person makes us happy. š§”
As a copywriter, so much of Gabby Dionisio's work is inspired by her reading. And thanks to her trusty new Kindle, she read nearly 50 books last year. In her own words, some even "brought forth emotions that should be illegal for a single book to do."
Gabby was captivated by the storytelling of a few select reads and found herself employing some of these new strategies in her work here at Ologie.
Our new post covers what higher ed marketers can learn from Gabby's recent 5-star reads.

We're feeling grateful for another year as a fiercely independent agency. Cheers to being employee-owned, producing award-winning work, working with the best clients in education, and doing it all with a great team (who are always up for an impromptu photo shoot at the office).
You might not guess it by his title, but our video editor Tommy Bruning is also a talented photographer. He loves capturing a wide variety of people, places, and things, from musicians, sporting events, and national parks to college campuses.
We sat down to hear more about his passion and how it connects back to his work here at Ologie.

Today our team is wrapping up work for 2023. With gratitude, we're signing off and taking the next week to recharge with family and friends. š
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season. Let's make 2024 one to remember! š§”

Itās a big day for our company! Weāre thrilled to share that Ologie is now 100% employee owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). We couldnāt be more proud or excited about this news. As we thought about the future of our agency, this was the only choice that felt right.
We really believe in the culture weāve built and our amazing people, and we love having the freedom to keep making bold work that helps our clients solve their biggest challenges. So hereās to all of our talented employees, who now have a stake in building the future at Ologie!
Matt Freedman, Ologieās chief operating officer, is also the āchief frying officerā at a nonprofit he founded called Fry Out Cancer. In the last 10 years, the organization has raised nearly $200,000 for cancer research by cooking Thanksgiving turkeys. With bold goals for 2023, Matt took some time to share more about this passion of his.

We love having new faces around the office, especially college students. Our summer design interns, Ciera and Ellie, share their favorite projects, where they look for creative inspiration, and who inspires their creativity the most.
What inspires our design interns? | Ologie We love teaching ā and learning from ā our interns. Weāre not shy about having them dive deep into the work, right from the start. We love sharing the ways our team members are making an impact beyond their work here at Ologie. Tahja Lauderdale is an associate director of project management by day, and a basketball coach by night.

So fun to work with a team full of creative people. This is The Gist, a monthly magazine edited and created by us, for us, to stay inspired and connected.
Today we recognize the 158th anniversary of Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of slaveryās end in the United States.
On this federal holiday, we encourage non-Black folks to spend time educating themselves and considering how to support the Black community. If you're looking for inspiration, check out a collection of Black-owned businesses we've curated to support.

Happy Pride Month! As we proudly celebrate and support our whole LGBTQIA+ community, let's also remember to stand up for q***r and trans people who should have the right to be their authentic selves. Equality and acceptance for ALL people makes us better humans.
We love a good adventure. Feeling inspired after a team hike in the beautiful mountains of Utah with our client partner Joe at of Utah Health.
Strategy Director Dayana Kibilds will host 'Talking Tactics,' a new Enrollify podcast that covers ways to move the needle on specific metrics: inquiries, booth visitors, apps started, video views, you name it. The catch? The tactic had to be done with limited resources: either by a single person, a small-but-mighty team, limited time, or without a lot of money.

Thereās something uniquely special about the walking group that Mimi Darwish started in spring 2021. Itās called Columbus Sole Survivors and itās for women who are in recovery from drug or alcohol addiction.
Mimi is an associate director of project management here at Ologie, so we sat down and talked to her about this passion of hers.
For the last two years, sheās been helping women maintain their sobriety and take control of their lives. Last year, 16 members walked 370 miles together, 6 celebrated one year of sobriety, and the group competed in 3 races.

We were honored to receive 3 gold awards and 2 silver awards at the 2023 AAF Columbus Awards.
Motherful Columbus was one of our Brand Camp clients last year, and together with Canvaas Consulting LLC, we received the gold award for copywriting and the gold award for public service marketing campaign. The Motherful brand also won two silver awards, for logo design and illustration.
Our work with the Columbus Zoo and Aquariumalso received a gold award, specifically for the sound design of the ZOMBIEzi Bay horror theme park video spot.
A big thanks to the creative community of central Ohio for this recognition!
One of Ologieās core values is invest and celebrate. We lift each other up. We give credit where itās due, and we show up for each other, every day. This February, weāre looking to live out this value in honor of Black History Month.
We're celebrating Black folks who have made history (or are currently doing so). But we want to go beyond that, and invest in the economic opportunities of Black Americans today -- by contributing dollars and time to Black-owned businesses and organizations, and by encouraging our Ologists to do so as well.
Here are some of our people's favorite Black-owned businesses and initiatives from their hometowns and neighborhoods, across the United States.
Let's invest and celebrate, together.
Invest and Celebrate: Black-Owned Businesses | Ologie This Black History Month, we're investing in the economic opportunities of Black Americans today ā by contributing dollars and time to Black-owned businesses and organizations, and by encouraging our Ologists to do so as well.
Verbal abuse is abuse. And when youāre ready to talk, My Sister's Place is the place.
Thank you for participating in Brand Camp with us, and thank you for trusting us to tell your story.
It's been a busy, yet fulfilling year at Ologie! We're dedicating the next week to spending time with friends, families, and pets, so December 23rd is our last day in the office until the new year. In the meantime, check out these highlights from our annual holiday party a couple weeks ago! We'll see you in 2023. š§”
Last week, we hosted an arts workshop for the kids of Motherful Columbus, empowering them to tap into their inner artists, while the parents of Motherful had space and time to relax and be in community together. Thank you to our friend Jonathan Juravich, Ohio's 2018 Teacher of the Year, for guiding them in these watercolor and oil pastel art pieces! šØ
Brand Camp is THIS WEEK. This year, Ologie and Canvaas Consulting LLC are working with two incredible organizations: Motherful Columbus and My Sister's Place.
As a woman-owned business, the overturning of Roe v. Wade hit very close to home. So this year, we've channeled our Brand Camp efforts to support organizations whose work advances and advocates for the rights of women (and humans with uteruses).
Motherful's goal is to bring collective mothering back into the consciousness of the people. Four years ago, Motherful started as a single spreadsheet with a list of resources for single moms. Today, they have over 325 members in their collective, a free pantry, advocacy events, nights out for moms, subscription boxes, meal trains, events for kids, and a community garden. Everything they do is rooted in helping single moms to know that they are not alone.
My Sister's Place* is a domestic violence agency in Athens, Ohio, serving Athens, Hocking, and Vinton Counties. Founded in 1977, it began as a grassroots effort to provide a safe respite for victim survivors of interpersonal violence and their children. Today, MSP provides a 24/7 hotline, outreach counseling, court advocacy, and emergency shelter. Their goal is provide space to foster safety, resiliency, healing, and hope in their community.
*Confidentiality is vital for My Sister's Place. These are general photos of the geographic area they serve, but not actual photos of their location, as that is kept confidential.

Ariana Solis GĆ³mez and Jen Cox of Culture ONE World are teaming up with Doug Edwards of Ologie to challenge SXSW EDU attendees to think and act differently when it comes to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Too often, brands (including colleges and universities) make DEI about themselves, instead of making it about the communities and people theyāre trying to reach.
Marketing that doesnāt approach communities from an authentic place rooted in culture means youāre wasting time and money, damaging your reputation, or even worse, hurting people.
Vote today to help us get them on the SXSW Edu 2023 stage! https://ologie.co/3ptn7VS
