Living Kidney Donor Needed for Steve Shkolnik
Dear Friends, if you, or someone you know, who is age 60 or younger, Blood Type A Positive, and is willing to donate a kidney, please refer them to complete the health history questionnaire at osuwexmedlivingdonor.org and mention Steve Shkolnik as the recipient. Or, they can call an OSU living donor team member at 614-293-6724, option 3.
Another way to help Steve get a kidney! If you or someone you know is willing to be in OSU's Kidney Paired Program, ANY blood type, they should fill out the health history questionnaire mentioned above, and mention Steve Shkolnik as the recipient. Once that person is qualified to be a donor, the program will then look at their list of kidney donors for someone with Steve's blood and tissue type. The person who is signed up to donate with Steve as the recipient will then be on a waitlist for another person who needs their blood type.
Steve and Bobbie sincerely appreciate your help (and prayers!) in this search. Time is of the essence!

We are thrilled to welcome Rabbi Morris J. Allen as the CJDS Interim Head of School!
Rabbi Morris J. Allen comes to us from Mendota Heights, Minnesota where he served as the first Rabbi of Beth Jacob Congregation from August of 1986 until January 2019 when he retired. During that time, Beth Jacob became a nationally recognized congregational community. He is a passionate voice for pluralistic Jewish life and a strong supporter of ensuring the health and welfare of the Jewish people in all of its manifestations. During his tenure as a congregational rabbi, Rabbi Allen was a strong advocate for Day School education and worked tirelessly to ensure that no student was denied access as a result of financial considerations. Upon retirement from the pulpit, Rabbi Allen became the first Conservative Rabbi to serve on a United States Congressional staff. He was the Senior Community Liaison for Rep. Angie Craig (MN02), responsible for a wide variety of policy concerns and constituent services. His wife, Dr. Phyllis Gorin, retired as a pediatrician this past April after a wonderful 36-year career. They are proud parents and grandparents. Only CJDS and Columbus would draw them out of retirement!!
Please join us in welcoming Rabbi Allen to Columbus and CJDS!
A note from former Executive Director Ari Goldberg:
Hello to the Agudas Achim community. At my going away celebration last year, I said that one advantage of moving east was that I planned to meet up with Rabbi Abigail Treu and to give her an in-person hug on behalf of everyone at Agudas Achim to thank her for all that she did to serve the congregation during a most challenging time. As you will remember, after two initial in-person visits, the rest of Rabbi Treu's interim rabbinate was virtual. Because of COVID that meet up took much longer than I expected, but finally occurred today and I kept my promise. As you can see, I took the opportunity to wear my Agudas SWAG! Sending warmest Shabbat Shalom wishes from both of us to everyone back in the Buckeye State!

We are devastated to share that our friend Romi Navarro has suddenly passed away. We learned this from Rabbi Treu who had kept in touch with the family since their move to Arizona to be near Romi’s family after Diane’s recent passing.
Like you, we are shocked at this sudden and tragic loss. And we are all concerned for Victoria, who turned 13 last week. Rabbi Treu has been in touch with Victoria.
Romi was a generous, spirited person, and found solace and meaning in working with the earth and animals. He was well aware that most of what was wrong in the world was the doing of people, yet he hoped we could fix the broken parts. We remember their family’s generous work in creating and tending the garden outside the shul.
May God comfort you together with all
the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
