An All- Call will be sent out at 4:30 PM today.
Have a great evening and stay safe out there!

We have created a brief guide describing how lockdowns are initiated and what the different types of lockdowns are. If you have any questions, please contact your building principal or Robert Hiss at [email protected].
Dear Roughrider Families:
On Monday, April 8, 2024, Jefferson Local Schools will be using a calamity day due to the anticipation of the total solar eclipse and large volume of traffic in the area. All school activities will be cancelled including athletic events. The district will provide students with solar eclipse glasses to take home with them on Friday, April 5, 2024.
William Mullett
Superintendent
Jefferson Local School District
Today, January 3, 2024 a threat was called in at Norwood Elementary. The building was placed in a lockdown and the police were contacted. Upon investigation, the threat was deemed not credible and the building resumed normal operations.
An all call will be going out to all parents at 3pm with this same information.
Last night we honored Dr. Hiss and Mr. Quinn for their time on the Board of Education. We thank you for your years of dedicated service to the district and our community.
Tomorrow (11/11) we honor all Veterans and those currently serving and thank you for your service!
This communication is meant to address questions about an upcoming “Meet the Teams” event advertised by a group not associated with the District, LifeWise. The advertisement states that the District’s football coach and various student-athletes and band members will attend. While the District acknowledges and respects the rights of its employees and students to participate in outside activities, the District cannot and will not compel District employees and students to participate in the event. The event is not District-sanctioned or sponsored and the District regrets any confusion caused by LifeWise, who did not obtain authorization to use the District’s name.
The Board of Education’s policies do not authorize students to be excused from school to attend a released time course in religious instruction as specifically proposed by LifeWise. However, while the Board of Education believes that regular school attendance by all students is very important and that students should not be excused from school except in limited situations, the Board of Education accommodates parent requests to excuse their student from school for religious reasons. For example, parents have the option under the District’s attendance policies to request that their student be excused from school to participate in educational activities sponsored by outside organizations, including organizations offering religious instruction—whether that be LifeWise or another outside organization.

Don’t forget your student needs immunization boosters. 7th graders need a Tdap and Meningitis vaccine. 12th graders need a 2nd Meningitis vaccine. These vaccines will be available at open house for any parent interested in getting their student vaccinated at that time. Students cannot start school this fall without proof of vaccination or a legal vaccine exemption. Email our nurse if you have questions. [email protected]

Chartwells message to parents and guardians:
Recently, you may have seen social media posts regarding our food service operations, and we wanted to reassure you that we are carefully and swiftly investigating the concerns. Please know there’s nothing we take more seriously than the health and safety of our students. We are working collaboratively with our food service team to ensure that the meals served every day reflect not only the highest quality, but what students, staff, and administrators enjoy eating.
We sincerely appreciate when any student who has a question or concern with an item they are served brings it forward to our cafeteria team. This allows us to immediately investigate a situation and reach a solution quicker than finding out about a problem via social media days, weeks, or months after the fact – and most importantly, ensure that every student receives a meal they enjoy.

Norwood Closure - March 3, 2023
Good morning Norwood families,
Norwood is currently experiencing a very high number of students and staff with an intestinal virus believed to be Norovirus which is highly contagious. To help keep this outbreak from getting worse, Norwood Elementary will be closed to all students and staff Friday March 3, 2023. This will hopefully allow everyone time to recuperate and allow our custodial staff time to properly clean and disinfect the entire building. The middle & high school will remain open tomorrow.
School will resume Monday March 6, 2023. Please help us by keeping your child home if they are ill or have been exposed to someone that has been ill with an intestinal illness.
Please contact Mrs. Barte or Mrs. Ferguson with any questions.
