This is a free half day program for any kindergarten student enrolled at ISE for the 24/25 school year. It’s a great opportunity to meet the teachers and fellow classmates, and help prepare you student for that first day of school!

We have an addition to our playground in memory of Carolyn T Hill. Mrs. Hill will be missed.

Carolyn Hill moved to a house bordering the north side of the Indian Springs playing field in 1957 with her husband, Howard, and their 3 children. Mrs. Hill taught kindergarten at Indian Springs from 1957 until her retirement in 1983 and spent most of those years in Room 3. In about 1960, Mr. Hill planted a Buckeye in the backyard that became the tree that produces the Buckeyes that so many children love to collect in the fall.

The playground looked very different then. Teeter-totters and high jungle gyms and tall slides and merry-go-rounds were in gravel where there is now asphalt for parking cars, a few basketball hoops and other pavement games. A second baseball diamond was where all of the play equipment is now. Mrs. Hill and her family spent a lot of time on that old playground and in those fields. One of Mrs. Hill's favorite activities as a teacher was dressing in a costume and leading the annual Halloween Parade around the neighborhood.

In 2023, when Mrs. Hill turned 102, kindergarten and 1st grade students came to her back fence and sang Happy Birthday. She was delighted and a video can be watched at https://youtu.be/0Z5yZ2A0NTI?si=Vs0vKlt3AAIFxmS0.

Mrs. Hill died in January 2024, six weeks before her 103rd birthday. Her family has installed this bench in her honor. We danced, and danced, and danced some more today! Each class brought their own energy and flair to their dance party with Ms. Jennings! We also had our last Career Cafe with Chef Aiden from The Guild House. Ms. Jennings works at The Guild House so it was a jam-packed day as we sent her off to the next journey!

Congratulations to our very own Ms. Jennings for being named Graduate Student of the Year in her program!

Ms. Jennings is in the dual-track and will continue one more year to complete the clinical counseling portion before graduating.

Her last day at ISE is May 8th. Each class will have a dance party with Ms. Jennings as we part ways.

Our bok choy, butter lettuce, and collard have been moved to our garden beds and 1st graders just did the same for spinach, radishes, and marigolds! 😍

Our 4th and 5th grade choir students will be performing tonight at 6pm in the Clintonville Choral Festival at Dominion Middle School along with Whetstone HS, Dominion MS, and 3 other area schools' choir groups. We can't wait!!

Don't forget to send in your eclipse glasses to school by tomorrow! Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio - SWACO has partnered with Columbus City Schools and the Columbus Metropolitan Library to donate eclipse glasses. The collected glasses will be sent to schools in Latin America and distributed to school-aged children so they can safely view the October 2024 Annular Eclipse there!
