🚨Huge announcement🚨 We’re stoked to bring to Columbus the first ever CFC POWER HOUR Competition hosted at CrossFit Clintonville August 31st, 2024 (Labor Day weekend). We’ll have more details to come but be sure to save the date and start prepping, we’ll be crowing the Victor of the ‘Ville for RX and Foundation divisions!

Join us in wishing one of our Masters athletes, Beth Bennett, good luck as she tackles CrossFit Semifinals in the the 50-54 Age Group! The workouts will be announced at 3pm today and Beth will be tackling them throughout the weekend. Qualifying for this stage means placing top 200 WORLDWIDE 🤯 If you see Beth tackling a workout, be sure to cheer her on!

Arguably the most iconic Hero WOD, Murph takes place every year in honor of LT. Michael P. Murphy United States Navy (SEAL) who was KIA in 2005 (the movie Lone Survivor is an inspirational watch and tells the story of Murph’s sacrifice).

Benchmark workouts are a great way to test your fitness and get a better understanding of where you’re at physically and mentally. HYDRATE. And listen to your fav pump up jams prior to the WOD! It’s hard to replicate adrenaline. Use it toward your advantage. GAME DAYYYYYYYY!

Today we’ve got coach Ali with a handful of tips to keep in mind as we inch closer and closer to the Open!
Recovery is key to prepare before and between open workouts! Here are my “Big 3 to Recovery”
1) Sleep and rest: Adequate and quality sleep is important to prepare your body for maximal output, as well as taking a rest day from high intensity workouts one or two days before you plan to attack the workout.
2) Nutrition and hydration: Make sure to prioritize protein and carbs before and after you workout in addition to drinking plenty of water with an electrolyte source
3) Mobility and bodywork! Proper warmup and cool down helps to prime range of motion and speed up the recovery process. You can always pay a visit to your favorite coach/chiropractor, Ali, at Columbus Spine and Sport Center 🤗 Rumor has it they’ll be providing free soft tissue treatments after 24.2! 👀

“Don’t eat like trash the day before!”
Nutrient-rich foods provide a sustained release of energy, helping to prevent fatigue during an event. Avoiding sugary or processed foods can help prevent energy crashes. Eating a healthy meal the day before that includes adequate protein also promotes muscle repair and recovery!
P.S: We also have that you can sign up for and get your meals delivered to the gym! 💪

Stay tuned for a group text or email from your team captains with more information and want to expect this week. The CrossFit Open workout will be announced this Thursday at 3 PM so you’ll have plenty of time to strategize and get ready for Friday Night Lights, with heats starting at 5 PM on Friday. Note: show up prior to 5 PM to warm up on your own or with your team.
Last year was a huge hit and we had a great time so make sure to clear your calendars on Friday and come cheer on your team!! Big shout out to our coaching staff for putting this together and a special shout out to our co-commissioners, Chase and Nate for leading the charge.
