It’s amazing what just a little bit of composite can do. For this case we were able to block out our patient’s white spot lesion with a minimal prep design followed by Renamel composite.

Cosmetic dentistry is providing a beautifully natural smile while being conservative with the tooth preparation design and providing a functional end result.

How do we get to the end result?

- We start with a wax up to design the smile (in this case the wax up was completed by )

- We prepare the teeth (conservative preparations).

- We fabricate temporary veneers using the wax up smile design that are worn while the porcelain veneers are fabricated.

- We deliver the final porcelain veneers.

For this case veneers were done on teeth 7-10 (the front four). The beautiful ceramic work was completed by . I love how the porcelain blends with the surrounding natural teeth as well as the gum tissues.

A dark single central is one of the hardest cosmetic cases in dentistry.

The prep needs to be conservative, yet also allow for enough space for the ceramics. The porcelain needs to block out the dark underlying color while also looking vibrant and life like.

For this case, we completed a single porcelain veneer on tooth 8. After is on the left, before on the right.

Ten years.

A smile enhancement and functional bite improvement using only composite!

For this case our wonderful patient wanted to improve the shape, color, and overall appearance of her teeth while also adding some length to her front teeth.

Due to her “tight bite” we didn’t have any room to add any length to her front teeth without her chipping or breaking the composite. So, we improved the functionality of her bite by using composite and adding length to her back teeth (increasing her vertical dimension). This gave us room to add length to the upper front teeth.

We used an injection moulding technique for the composite using a beautiful smile design by !!

You can never have ideal esthetics without ideal function!

The only tooth preparation necessary for this case was to remove old worn composite and clean any present decay. Conservative dentistry!

Four porcelain veneers!

Our patient wanted a beautiful and natural smile. She had old bonding on her front two teeth, and didn’t like the shape/color of her front four teeth.

Our objective was to idealize the esthetics of the front four teeth and have them seamlessly blend with the rest of her teeth to provide a smile that our patient can be confident with!

Beautiful porcelain work by for this case. The layering techniques in the porcelain work creates a depth in the ceramics that mimics natural teeth. Subtle striations and translucency also add characteristics that are seen with enamel.

Cosmetic dentistry is about creating beautiful and natural looking smiles. For this case we completed porcelain restorations on our patient’s front four teeth (7-10).

The beautiful porcelain work by blends perfectly with the other teeth in our patient’s smile. I love the individual characteristics incorporated into each restoration that allows them to blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural teeth.

Had a great time at the annual scientific session this year. Also fun running into a couple of classmates!!

Our office takes great pride in the cosmetic dentistry that we offer, but we also provide general dentistry services.

This was a larger cavity that we restored while taking care to avoid any pupal exposure and managing both dentin and enamel layers of the tooth.

Fuji Equia was used to manage the dentin.
Tetric EvoCeram bulk fill composite was used as our final enamel layer.
Strata-G Sectional Matrix System was used to provide an ideal contact.

For this case we used a combination of porcelain and composite in order to achieve optimal esthetics while being minimally invasive!

Our patient came in with a crown on a root canal treated central incisor (tooth 9). She wanted the crown replaced due to esthetics. In order to provide ideally symmetry between the central incisors as well as close existing spaces between her upper incisors we included teeth 7, 8, and 9 in treatment.

A wax up was completed by for teeth 7-10. I used the wax up as a guide to complete injection moulded composites on teeth 7, 8, and 10 (no tooth preparation was involved). Evanesce Flow was used.

After the composites were completed we removed the old crown on tooth 9 and replaced it with a new porcelain crown fabricated by which blends beautifully with the composite restorations.

I love this case because the utilization of multiple techniques and materials allowed us to provide a responsible and highly esthetic outcome!!

It is pretty cool what can be accomplished with composite!

Our patient came in with a chipped porcelain fused to metal (PFM) implant crown, old stained composites, and black triangles (spaces between teeth where the gum tissue doesn’t fill in).

Using the black triangle kit we were able to replace the old stained composite and close all of the black triangles on our patient’s lateral incisor and left central incisor. We were then able to use our porcelain bonding protocol to repair the chipped PFM crown using composite.

Renamel NANO composite was used for this case.

The only tooth preparation required for this case was removing the old composite and placing a conservative bevel on the enamel!

This past week we were able to celebrate Christmas as an office. It’s a special year. It has been ten years since I bought the practice, and fifty years since Dr Stewart started the practice.

I’m thankful to be surrounded by this special group of people everyday at work!!

Smile Enhancement with four porcelain veneers and a gingivectomy!

For this case we replaced chipped and discolored composite bonding with porcelain veneers on our patient’s front four teeth (7-10). In addition to improving the overall esthetics of the individual teeth, we worked to help improve the cant evident in the pre-op photos.

To help visually improve the cant, I also sculpted the tissue (gingivectomy) on our patient’s right canine (tooth 6), to help harmonize the gingival heights of contour.

The beautiful feldspathic porcelain veneers were created by !!

Six composite veneers on teeth 6-11!

For this case we removed Invisalign attachments and cleaned up tooth decay to set the stage for six direct composite veneers using an injection moulding technique.

Renamel composite was used to repair the areas of decay. G-aenial Universal Injectable Composite was used as the final injectable layer.

I may have lost to our 8 year old in a one mile run today…and then followed it up with neighborhood trick or treating.

No prep composite bonding (aka composite veneers)!

For this case we used composite to change the look of our patient’s teeth. We changed the contours of the surfaces and also changed the design of the teeth’s edges (made the embrasures smaller).

This was all done in an additive way. No tooth structure was removed.

For this case we completed ten porcelain restorations on the upper arch. I love the outcome and how her teeth are in harmony with her upper and lower lips.

With cosmetic dentistry, it’s important that the teeth fit with the patient’s own unique facial features.

Single central composite bonding + tooth whitening!!

For this case our patient came in with a chipped central incisor that was also darker than his adjacent teeth (the tooth was previously treated with a root canal).

We used tooth whitening to brighten up adjacent teeth. Renamel was then used to repair the chipped tooth and make it symmetrical with the other central incisor.
- Pink opaquer was used to mask the darkness of the underlying tooth structure.
- White opaquer was used to add hypocalcification spots to match the adjacent tooth.

I got to go to The Big House on Saturday with my wife, my oldest son, and my close friend who I have known since the second grade. My son is in second grade now.

I’m getting older.
