On May 15, TNIC will celebrate the work of The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle. It will be the same format as always, but with some education-themed stumpers. We'll also need to size up attendance beforehand, so we are asking teams of 3-to-5 geniuses to reserve a table by RSVP-ing to me at this email address: [email protected].
As with our other Trivia Wednesdays, pre-game logistics will be 6:30-7pm, and the game will be from 7 until 8 or so.
There will be no cover but we'll suggest a donation of $30 per table.
Also, in a move sure to attract the attention of the Mass Attorney General's Trivia Ethics Department, we'll let each team purchase up to three hints during the game --either one at a time for $10, or a CheatPack of three for $20. (Education costs money, people. That's what this is all about...)
Please drop me a note if you know you'll be joining us so we can start sizing up attendance. Again, RSVP at [email protected].
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Colonial Inn a week from Wednesday!
-Tom

The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle 50/50 Raffle
The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle is once again helping to cheer on the Concord-Carlisle High School football team by sponsoring a 50/50 raffle. The Scholarship Fund will sell tickets at the Patriots’ October 21 football game against the Bedford Buccaneers, 7:00 pm at Memorial Stadium.
The drawing will be at halftime, and the winning ticket holder will receive half of the raffle sales and all net proceeds will be used by The Scholarship Fund to support need-based college scholarships for students who live in or have graduated from secondary school in Concord or Carlisle. The Scholarship Fund will also be designating the donations from the raffle to The Charles A. Robichaud Scholarship Fund, the Named Fund created by the Robichaud family to honor longtime CCHS football coach and science teacher Al Robichaud.
Travis Minor, Chair of The Scholarship Fund says of the event, “We are thrilled to be back in Memorial Stadium, and it is especially meaningful for us to be honoring Al Robichaud, a wonderful coach and teacher who gave so much to the Concord and Carlisle communities. We hope the 50/50 raffle brings a little extra excitement to a terrific night.” In 2022, The Scholarship Fund awarded almost $400,000 in scholarships to students from Concord, Carlisle, and Boston; in the last 56 years, more than $3 million dollars has been awarded to over 1400 students.
Raffle pricing will be $1 for 1 ticket, $5 for 6 tickets and $10 for 15 tickets. For additional details about the raffle, contact Joe Laurin, Trustee of The Scholarship Fund, at [email protected].

THE GEORGE W. BERRY SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Scholarship Fund of Concord and Carlisle is pleased to announce the establishment of The George W. Berry Scholarship Fund. The Fund has been founded by the Berry family to honor George W. Berry’s legacy of philanthropic support. This is the second Named Fund to be established by the Berry family, who also endowed The Wilson Flight Scholarship Fund in 2004. The Berry family’s preference is that the awards to be made from The George W. Berry Fund will go to CCHS graduates who have demonstrated an interest in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
Throughout his life, Mr. Berry channeled his many passions— especially classical music, education, and science— into charitable work. He proved a great supporter of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, serving as an Overseer for many years; the American Cancer Society, helping to raise funds to build the first Hope Lodge in Boston for cancer patients and their families; and Dartmouth College, serving on the board of the Hopkins Art Center and Dartmouth College's Presidential Leadership Council, making a gift of a new dormitory in 2005, and spearheading the building of the Berry Library at Dartmouth College, named for his late father, John.
Above of all, Mr. Berry loved spending time with his wife Roberta, children, grandchildren and friends. His family remembers him most “as a quiet and brilliant man who touched countless lives with his generosity, and one whose spirit will live on profoundly in those he loved and supported.” The Scholarship Fund is honored that the Berry family is continuing Mr. Berry’s lifetime of philanthropic work through its organization.
