Last week, the newest class of Daniel Webster Scholars met for their orientation. Students got to know each other, held their first law firm meetings to prepare for class, and heard from Chief Justice MacDonald of the New Hampshire Supreme Court.

The sun finally came out for the first day of classes! Whether it’s their first day of law school or their last first day, we always look forward to seeing students back at the law school for the fall semester and look forward to another great year ahead!
This weekend, students in the Bioinnovation Immersion course concluded the program by learning about drug accessibility and pricing from Professor Lucy Hodder, as well as Rose Keller, a Cystic Fibrosis patient, and Don Kreis, Rose's father and a NH Consumer Advocate. They also discussed innovation and bioethics with Professor Bill Shaw. Thanks to all of our speakers, especially to Rose and Don for sharing your experiences with our students!

From Fundamentals of Intellectual Property and Property to Constitutional Law and Contracts, today marked the final day of the August Hybrid J.D. immersion. We look forward to welcoming our Hybrid J.D. students back to Concord again in October!
Friday marked the second day of the BioInnovation Immersion Course, and students had the opportunity to hear from litigators and biotech CLOs about important issues in the industry. Students spoke with Choate attorneys and staff about the Safe Harbor Act and the importance of document hygeine in litigation, then had a discussion with several CLOs from biotech companies about their experience and career journeys. Thanks to Choate Attorneys Sophie Wang, Dan Brutti, Sara Ellis, Patent Agent Beejan Asady, and to Choate Law for generously hosting us! Thursday kicked off the four-day Bioinnovation Immersion Course in Boston! Students discussed the Bayh-Dole Act and strategies for biotech founders and investors with Professors Bill Shaw and Bruce Leicher and Attorneys Will Bernat and Mark Leonardo, then learned about partnerships and acquisition of biotech and pharma companies from Bill Desmarais and Farah Gerdes. Cecilia Nyamu, LLM ’24, Fulfills Her Dream at UNH Franklin Pierce Nyamu, who recently graduated with an LLM from UNH Franklin Pierce’s online International Criminal Law and Justice (ICLJ) program, did not give up in her pursuit of a master’s, despite several obstacles and a degree more than three years in the making.
Yesterday, we wrapped up our international orientation! Our incoming students learned about the law library with Professor Jon Cavicchi, and explored Common Law vs. Civil Law and info age challenges facing legal systems with Professor Bill Murphy. Students enjoyed lunch with the student services staff, and received an intro to career services with Assistant Dean of Career Services Neil Sirota, Director of Career Services Caroline Rockafellow, and Victor Kronemberger LLM '24! Yesterday, our incoming international students had a packed second day of orientation! Kevin Frost, director of the Academic Success Program (ASP) covered ASP and the American Bar Exam. Academic Advisor Brad Hinton discussed course planning, and Professor Melissa Christenson introduced Legal Analysis. Students enjoyed lunch with one of their faculty advisors, Professor Stan Kowalski. Assistant Dean for Students Lauren Berger discussed transitioning to law school, highlighting the importance of wellness and wellbeing, and Elizabeth Webber and Abe Schafermeyer from the Office of International Student Services (OISS) introduced OISS and the support it provides. Assistant Dean for Records and Registration Matt Grady gave an introduction to the Registrar's Office, and the day concluded with individual academic advising sessions.

The U.S. Supreme Court: A special two-part series on The Legal Impact! There were so many key decisions decided by the high court this year, I decided to present them in two episodes. Part One covers the so-called “Trump Docket” - those rulings concerning the former President, including the immunity case. Part Two covers a half-dozen other important decisions, ranging from government regulation, environmental protection, local homelessness policies, and those perennial Supreme Court issues: guns and abortion.

Yesterday was a fantastic start to our three-day orientation for incoming international students - Class of 2025! We kicked off with warm welcomes from Assistant Dean for Students Lauren Berger and Assistant Dean for Graduate Admissions Sarah Dorner, an overview of American history with Reference and Public Services Librarian Kathy Fletcher, and a campus tour by 2L MJ Rhee. Students met faculty and staff at lunch, learned about U.S. law from Adjunct Professor Raef Granger, got tips on academic life from LL.M. '24 Savi Varanasi, and learned about life in Concord from Student Life Coordinator Alexa Bobinski. We wrapped up the day with a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream social with incoming 1Ls, current students, alumni, faculty, and staff!
Adjunct Professor Richard Samdperil is currently in India teaching an Introduction to Legal Skills course to first-year LLB students at Symbiosis Law School, Pune. Professor Samdperil will also present our LLM programs to upper class LLB students, connect with alumni, meet prospective students and more in the Pune and Mumbai areas.
We are excited to announce that the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law and Symbiosis International University - SIU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance academic and research partnerships.
