The DAV Department of Arkansas donated a vehicle to the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock, which will be used to transport veterans to and from their VA medical appointments at no cost.

This vehicle is part of a nationwide fleet that makes up the DAV Transportation Network, which is operated by a network of volunteer drivers. If you are interested in driving veterans to and from their VA appointments, visit volunteerforveterans.org to learn how you can get involved.

Today is Veterans Day. We would like to extend our thanks to all those who have served or are currently serving in the military. We appreciate all you have done for this country and its citizens.

Golden Corral will host its annual Military Appreciation Night on Monday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 9 p.m. Golden Corral Buffet & Grill restaurants nationwide will welcome our nation’s veterans and active-duty service members for a free thank-you dinner buffet, drink and camaraderie.

Since partnering with Golden Corral in 2001, DAV chapters and departments have raised over $18 million as a result of the annual event. In addition, Golden Corral has served more than 6 million complimentary meals. Military Appreciation Night is Golden Corral’s way to honor and say thanks to our nation’s veterans and active-duty military.

The deadline to file your PACT Act claim - or submit your intent to file - and be eligible for benefits backdated to August 10, 2022, has been extended to Monday, August 14, 2023, until 11:59 p.m. EDT (10:59 p.m. CDT).

Due to high volume, some veterans have received error messages when submitting their intent to file PACT Act claims. If you received this type of message, don’t worry! Your intent to file has been logged, and your effective date for benefits has been saved.

🌪 DISASTER RELIEF: Were you affected by the recent tornados that uprooted the lives of many Arkansans? You may be eligible for disaster relief vouchers & kits through the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Eligibility:

1️⃣ The applicant must be an ill, injured, or wounded veteran or the spouse thereof (in the same household); or a surviving spouse in receipt of Death Compensation or Dependency & Indemnity Compensation; or a surviving spouse of a former Prisoner of War; or a surviving spouse of an ill, injured or wounded veteran as a result of the isolated/specific disaster.
2️⃣ The applicant does not need to be a member or in receipt of service-connected compensation to be eligible.
3️⃣ The applicant must be the victim of either an isolated or specific disaster.
4️⃣ The applicant must be in immediate need of financial assistance, at the time of the disaster, as they do not have available funds to pay for acquired expenses. Example: Veteran is covered by homeowners’ insurance, but will not receive compensation from the insurance for the incident until several days out.
