Happy Saturday, everyone! H and I are doing cookie class design prep. These cookies won’t be eaten, so I love having him sit with me and he loves watching.

I don’t think I’ve ever done one of those introductory posts, so hi! I’m a wife, mom, full time ESOL teacher, and part-time cookier. I’ve been selling decorated sugar cookies for almost four years, and recently I’ve started spending more time on teaching cookie classes which has been a BLAST.

(Side note: I have seen a lot of interest in my classes but haven’t been using one consistent way to communicate about them. If you want to be on my email list for notifications about classes or about fun cookie deals, please let me know and I’ll add you.)

Spiritually I’m trying to live in that fine balance between freedom and legalism that is moderation and which is full of God’s love and His holiness, two qualities that cannot be divided from Him. Thanks, , for discussing this so well recently!

This is a good time of year to enjoy beach cookies, right - when it’s starting to get chilly and we can remember fun days on the beach?! I sent this cookie to to help her remember the beach where she’s living in Alaska.

But here’s my confession: I don’t go the beach much even though I live 15 minutes away. I’m more likely to visit the beach when I leave town and visit someone who lives on another beach 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️Comment - are you a beach bum? Or do you prefer other adventures like I do??

I haven’t seen my good friend in years - maybe since right after my wedding in 2017?! But we talk pretty often, and when she told me she would be in my area during Hurricane Ian, I was so excited. A full 24 hr visit extended into a second day, and we spent those two cozy days playing with H, drinking hot delicious drinks, and talking through anything and everything we could think of, while Bobby kept watch on the storm and trees outside. I made these cookies for Lucy to take with her. I’m so thankful for you, friend!!

School is in full swing and as a teacher and mom, a lot of my brain is consumed with those elements of my life, so I don’t feel like I’m on here as much. I think that’s a good thing. Everyone at this party got a little teapot! I used actual Delft China for inspiration in my designs and, of course, had a blast with it.

Another cookie from my Good Night Moon set, featuring a comb and a brush and a bowl full of mush. As an adult, one thing that fascinated me about this book is the questions it raises about bedtime culture a hundred years ago, when Margaret Wise Brown was a little girl. Who was the quiet old lady whispering hush? What was the bowl of mush, and why hadn’t the rabbit eaten it? They both feel so cozy.

Margaret Wise Brown and I share an alma mater, , and I had so much fun making this set honoring her.

I experimented with a bunch of flower arrangements before I settled on this design, and I love it! I had experience with all the elements of these cookies, but I hadn’t quite combined the elements this way before, so designing and creating them was both fun and growing for me!

We’re making these cute beachy cookies on Saturday, July 23 10-12am! This class is good if you want to get familiar with Royal icing and cookie decorating, and it’s also good if you just want to get out and do something creative. You’ll leave with six colorful and delicious sugar cookies and lots of coaching as needed for $50.

This is my contribution to the . These are the first sugar cookies that I served to people, made about four years ago. I used actual raw egg whites (very carefully) since I hadn’t invested in any meringue powder yet, and I served them for snack at church. I have grown a lot as a cookier, but I still like these original designs!
