Get excited for another year of KLIFE! We will be kicking off the school year with a pool party at Centennial Valley Country Club this Saturday! Bring a friend, come ready to play, and we’ll see you all there!

💕KLUB RECAP💕
This week, Becca continued the Holy Cow series and talked about ALL different kinds of relationships!

🫶🏻 To help better call out “red flags” in any sort of friendship/relationship, Becca used the example of a football coach throwing a flag to challenge & review a call on a particular play, because he believes something is not right. We played a few rounds of “throw a flag/no flag” on different scenarios, each time asking, “Is that a wise thing to be doing (No flag)? Or should we challenge that call and see what God’s Word has to say about it (throw a flag)?”

♥️These scenarios pointed out that God has a special plan & format for the way all our relationships should look—in the way we talk to others, interact with them, and share Jesus within these relationships. No matter the relationship type, we are FIRST & FOREMOST called by God to love Him with our heart, soul, mind, & strength (Matt. 22:37). God created us to be in a relationship with HIM first, and the other people He gives to us are extra blessings we get to enjoy within His context!

✨Finally, Becca reminded us that as we grow in our relationship with Jesus and grow in wisdom, we should be looking for any “flags” to throw to challenge & grow us in our earthly relationships.

🫶🏻Correction, calling up, or “throwing a flag” within our relationships with others can be awkward at first; but, Proverbs 27:6 so aptly says that the “wounds” of a friend are faithful (I.e. the hard but good conversations we may be called to which make us more like Christ), but the “kisses” of an enemy are deceitful (I.e. the empty praise which may encourage us to stay in sin). The key phrase there is, “hard but good.” Those convos will be hard, but they are ultimately for both parties good!

💕We hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day week faithfuls!! Don’t forget: we get to love and care for others because we remember how Christ loved and cared for us! He did it sacrificially, deeply, and unconditionally. Continue to love well, knowing you are already deeply loved!

🗣️KLUB RECAP🗣️
We are 2 weeks down on Holy Cow—& we are so excited to keep diving into what idolatry (worshiping created things) can look like today. Our hope through this series is that we expose the created things we idolize, and point to a BETTER WAY of living: keeping God as the FIRST and ONLY thing we devote our whole hearts to.

👥PEOPLE
- Becca used a personal example of what idolizing people looked like in her life, and how it consumed her—leaving her EXHAUSTED, WEARY, & INSECURE.
- She showed the BETTER WAY of following Jesus, and that while it may be hard at times, it will intimately bring PEACE, REST, & SECURITY chasing the approval of others never can.
- Where the praise of people will change and fail, God’s Word & His LOVE for you is NEVER-ENDING!
- We are called to love God with our WHOLE being (Matthew 22:37)
- We cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24, Galatians 1:10)
- We are called to walk by the Spirit, and not what our flesh wants (Galatians 5:16)

🏀SPORTS
- Alex showed us some CRAZY stats about how much the US/the average household spends on sports every year—how we spend our money can often point to what we think is important…
- He also used a personal example of how basketball ruled his emotions and schedule every day. Sports can be a gift to teach us DISCIPLINE, TEAMWORK, & FAITHFULNESS; but, when viewed the wrong way, it can lead to ANGER, STRIVING, & DISCONTENT.
- We are called to have qualities sports can teach us (Hebrews 12:1)
- We are to be DETERMINED & FOCUSED in our daily walk with Jesus (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)

❗️We hope these recaps are a tool for you, and that you consider these questions God’s Word brings about. The Spirit is our Helper, and He is faithful to point out sensitive points of things we value above God—listen to your Helper, faithfuls! What a gift we have been given!

🗣️NEW KLUB SERIES🗣️

🐄 HOLY COW: do we love the created more than the creator?

☁️ Holy Cow is a series which looks at the things we often idolize before God (such as sports, relationships, people, & things), and what He says about them.

🕊️ last week Alex explained the concept of this series, and began to dive into what idolatry is at its core. It is when we take manmade things, even good things, and place them above God—something he has told us explicitly not to do (Deut. 5:7).

☁️ Alex also walked us through the title of this series. He called back to the book of Exodus, when the Israelites made a golden calf rather than waiting on & trusting God in the wilderness. They decided to worship a cow made of gold scraps, rather than the same God who had JUST freed them from 400 years of slavery under the hand of the Egyptians, mere VERSES before.

🐄 We are called to serve one God and one God alone. To try and serve two “masters” is futile (Matt. 6:24). We cannot try to balance worshipping two things—we must devote ourselves to the things of God, and let the good people & things which He has given us fall in place behind Him (Gal. 1:10).

☁️ through this series, we hope to get at the heart of who & what we worship—and are excited to see where the Lord leads, convicts, & teaches us!

🫶🏻 WE LOVE OUR LEADERS! 🫶🏻

This past weekend, we had the privilege to take a handful of our volunteers to Branson for KLIFE HQs volunteer leader retreat! We, along with so many others chapters, heard from some awesome, engaging speakers about what it looks like to disciple and walk alongside the next generation as a steward of the Gospel.

What a GIFT we have in Conway to have such amazing leaders who VOLUNTEER their time to shepherd their small groups!

❄️SNOW DAY !!❄️

🗣️ Following Conway School Districts’ call on school today, we will NOT be having klub tonight. We are sad to miss another week with y’all, but are counting down the days until next week!

We are sad to announce that we are cancelling the mystery trip; but DON’T lose heart—
We are planning a trip later in the semester that will be lower in price, closer to AR, and hopefully more accessible to all of our students!

More information will be available by the end of January. We are sad to cancel, but are excited and hopeful for this reimagined trip!!

Last week, we began the 3 day challenge to raise $30k, and not only did we meet our goal, but we exceeded it! The amount shown through our 30in3 site doesn’t even take into account some checks that are still coming in—we are simply blown away by your generosity and willingness to serve through your giving. The Lord has been so kind in His provision for Conway KLIFE, thank you for being apart of that provision, and partnering with us in ministry!

Alex and I are so thankful for you all; we love you Conway, we are excited for what the Lord is doing here, and we cannot wait to witness what He will continue to accomplish.

Conway, let’s look at James 1🔥

James is a NT book that focuses heavily on what true faith looks like in a follower of Jesus.

James begins his letter to dispersed Jewish believers by calling himself a bond servant, a “doulos” of Christ. Being Jesus’ half-brother, James had every opportunity to platform himself as ”Jesus’ bro,” yet chose to focus on his decision to follow & serve Jesus instead…

James also hits the ground running by reminding his audience that trials have a greater purpose. Hard things aren’t just hard things to get through, but are an opportunity for genuine faith & steadfastness to grow in us—and he exhorts the reader to allow that change to happen.

This post looks at the first 4 verses of James 1. Be on the look out for the next installment looking at James. We hope this is a simple tool to help you launch into studying God’s Word by looking at a broad view of what is being said, asking good questions, and turning the Scripture for the answers.

RECAP & REFRESH🐑

Last weeks parable was the parable of the lost sheep.

Alex taught on this parable, and how it reflects God’s heart for His creations, US! He reminded us that we don’t just sit back after God has saved us, but we have a response to imitate the shepherd, and bring others to the good and kind Shepherd we know God as!

So this week be reminded: you are loved, cared for, and sought out by a God who knows you, and will stop at nothing to bring you in—even if it means sending His Son to die in your place. Now reflect His love this week, and stop at nothing to tell others about this good God, this good Shepherd we have♥️

KLUB RECAP🗣️

This past Tuesday, Becca taught on the 2 parables about treasure found in Matthew 13:44-46.

The 1st (hidden treasure) tells of a man who stumbles upon a field with a hidden treasure in it. Overcome by joy, he sells everything he has so he can go and buy the field with the treasure.
This is the person who hears the Gospel by chance, and when they recognize how incredible God’s gift is, they have no response other than a willingness to give up whatever it takes for this treasure. It is far more valuable that whatever we can bring.

The 2nd (the pearl of great price) tells of a merchant who is searching for pearls. As he is searching, he finds a single pearl of such a great value, he sells all he has so he can have this one pearl.
This is a person who grows up searching or learning about this pearl, the Gospel. However, once they see the good news of Jesus face to face, they already understand it’s value and cost, and yet the result should be the same as the first man: a willingness to give up anything for the sake of having this treasure, the gift of knowing Jesus.

Wether you are like the first man or the second, has your life’s response to the treasure looked like theirs? Find a friend this week, teach them what you learned, and answer this question honestly!
