It’s happening!! Eclipse events have kicked off at UCA, and Opera Theatre is joining in on the fun! This Friday & Saturday at 7:30 PM, the UCA Opera Theatre will present Too Many Sopranos by Edwin Penhorwood. Come see the tenors and basses be “eclipsed” by our four Divas as St. Peter seeks to complete the Heavenly Choir!!

"Total Eclipse of the....MEN??" Central AR friends, the UCA Opera Theatre will present Edward Penhorwood's comic opera Too Many Sopranos next weekend, April 5 & 6! Too Many Sopranos is the story for four sopranos who have died, but are told that there is only room for one new soprano in the Heavenly choir! Performances begin at 7:30 each night in the Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts Performance Hall on the UCA campus. Ticket prices are $10 for adults; $7 for seniors 60+ and active military personnel; $5 for K-12 students. UCA faculty, staff, and students get in free with UCA ID. While some of the characters are men, there are indeed...Too Many Sopranos! Come join the fun!

Good afternoon, friends! Come join us for the UCA Opera Theatre performances of Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas next week! Performances will be at 7:30 PM Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 16-18, and 3:00 PM Sunday, Feb. 19. All performances will be in the Snow Fine Arts Recital Hall on the UCA campus. Opera lovers and supporters of UCA Opera Theater, we are having a show this year. We will be doing Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial By Jury and the Confrontation Scene from Puccini's Suor Angelica. We hope you will make plans to attend. It is free and open to the public.

Next in our meet the cast series in Mary Ruth Kitchens
Mary Ruth Is a First year post baccalaureate student majoring in voice.
Mary is a beautiful contralto who will be performing roles from operas such as The Magic Flute and La Cenerentola.

“I am looking forward to learning more about acting while singing.”

MEET THE CAST!
Next in our meet the cast series is Anna Sophia Jones.
Anna Sophia is a Senior mezzo soprano majoring in Pre-Vet Biology.

“I’m most looking forward to learning how to interact with my cast mates on stage, since my first year in opera we were unable to do any staging due to the pandemic. I’m also looking forward to my role as Cinderella in our Italian Cinderella scene—La Cenerentola by Rossini. I’m so honored to have been given such a big role that includes having my own mini aria!”

Katlyn is a 1st year MM in Choral Conducting student
Singing Mezzo-Soprano this fall with the UCA opera studio.
“I am looking forward to working with my amazing peers again, and learning some very cool scenes!”
