Thank you to everyone that supported our Back to School Giveaway last Friday. We helped 152 students with backpacks, socks, t-shirts toothpaste, toothbrushes.

A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ST. SIMON'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH. THEY DONATED 78 RED BAGS FILLED WITH FOOD ITEMS. THE ITEMS WILL BE VERY HELPFUL IN MEETING THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY, ESPECIALLY FAMILIES WITH SCHOOL AGE KIDS THAT ARE HOME FOR THE SUMMER.

Our Numbers Are Rising With Families Coming During The Summer. We Could Definitely Use More Food Items From Our Community.

MOST NEEDED ITEMS: PEANUT BUTTER, JELLY, SPAGHETTI SAUCE, CHILI, SOUP, TUNA, VEGETABLES, CEREAL, GRITS AND OATMEAL.

Happy Wednesday! We are allowing our families with children in Rockdale County Schools to come more often this summer.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FILL OUR SHELVES TO MEET THE EXTRA DEMAND. SOME OF OUR MOST NEEDED ITEMS ARE: CEREAL, OATMEAL, GRITS, CHILI, JELLY, CRACKERS, PEANUT BUTTER AND SPAGHETTI SAUCE.

Please Drop by Mondays 9-3, Tuesdays 1-3 and Thursdays 9-11 to bring any of the above items or any other food items.

A huge shout out to our board member, Cedric McCray, and his uncle for picking up our ACFB order and helping unload.

Last but not least. We want to highlight another one of our fabulous interns, Destiny Simeon. She attends Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology. Destiny plans to attend LSU in the fall.

WE HAVE THE BEST VOLUNTEERS AT ROCKDALE EMERGENCY RELIEF!!

Without them we could not fulfill our mission of neighbors helping neighbors.

Happy Tuesday! Today is a food bank day so we will be busy providing food to our neighbors in need.

We will also have our Tuesday Interns here to help. We are going to miss these students that have spent their senior year with us two days a week.

Souleah Johnson attends Rockdale Career Academy and plans to go to Georgia Gwinnett College in the fall.

Cadyn Wells attends Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology and plans to go to Spelman Honors College in the fall.

The Leadership Rockdale Legendary Class 2024 completed their Legacy Project today at Rockdale Emergency Relief. Yes we got a new sign, flowers and new supporters. Thank you again to the Leadership Rockdale Legendary Class 2024.

Georgia Department of Community Affairs Outreach Coordinators will be onsite at the We Care Vet Fair to talk about the Georgia Mortgage Assistance and Georgia Dream Peach Select Veterans Assistance Program.

The new GA Dream Peach Select Veterans Assistance Program is designed specifically to help Veterans find a home for them. The Peach Select Veterans Assistance Loan Program offers a low-interest rate with no down payment assistance provided. This program is an extension of the Georgia Dream initiative, aimed at making homeownership more accessible for all Georgians.

Happy Wednesday! It is a good day at Rockdale Emergency Relief. Phyliss is busy organizing our donation from Walmart and Brandon, one of our Interns, is answering the phone and doing computer work.

We have had 4 Amazing Interns this school year and they will be graduating soon. They will be missed by the staff and volunteers at RER.

Brandon attends Rockdale Career Academy and plans to attend Morehouse College in the fall.

UPDATES:

Red Cross will be operating a local shelter starting at 5:30 p.m. at Conyers First Methodist Church located at 921 N Main St. Conyers, Ga 30012.

Rockdale County Senior Services will have a van drive around the affected areas starting at 05:30 p.m. to bus residents to the shelter.

The Salvation Army will patrol the affected areas at 06:30 p.m. to offer dinner to residents.

The PCA Portal is now open for cooling assistance. Help a Senior in need!!

PCA Cooling assistance for Seniors opens up on April 1 @ 7 AM. Visit pcaction.org to schedule your appointment. The appointments will fill up fast. Please share with any senior that you may know.
