All the Pre-Ordered vents have shipped. Other than Rallye Bob, I am not sure who wanted unassembled vents. So if your order is incorrect, you will know why. If you haven’t received tracking from me, message me directly so I can insure that you were not left out. It will be a week or two before I have the rest of the production to get out to wholesalers…so presold vents are out of stock
Preorder vents are being shipped now. Thank you for your support
Please message me if you wanted vents unassembled!!! I can’t remember who it was
While in Naples, we looked at an early 73 GT with a lot of documentation. It would be a restoration project as it has rust in several places, but for the most part it was kept all original. So in many ways it’s a time capsule, but has a good story with it. I can connect anyone interested in the purchase of the car with the owner. It is a 73 with a build date of 10/72
So we took a trip down to Naples Florida to purchase probably the most epic parts lot ever assembled for the GT model. It was truly unbelievable what can be found stored for 40 years. All the lights, with housings, rubber, seals, hoses, trim, center caps, trim rings, bumpers, switches, sheetmetal…rear pads quarter, passenger fender, headlight, tail panel, rear trim strip, hood, and other treasures to unlock once I arrive home. Wanted to give you all a sneak peek
If you wish to modify the vents , and order them in halves, this is a video showing how easy it is the weld them together
I had a partial shipment of the defroster vents expressed and the rest shipped standard. I wanted to get these out as soon as possible. Unfortunately they messed up and shipped a double box of one side. I apologize, I told them to make certain I would get all 4 parts. It won’t be really long, but just an inconvenience
We took a long trip out to Colorado to pick up my old Opel GT. Tennessee-Arkansas-Oklahoma-Texas-New Mexico-Colorado-Kansas-Missouri-Illinois-Kentucky-back to Tennessee. Went to Big Texan Steak House for the 72oz challenge, made it to the summit of Pikes Peak, picked up the car, hit the newest Bucee’s, then on home.
1972 GT getting cut in with color
Production is complete on the vents, for all the pre-orders I am having the shipments express shipped, and then the other bulk on the slow boat. Which will not be that far behind. We will be out for an Opel adventure to Colorado this week, but when we return, we should be close to fulfilling the pre-orders. For our European clients, we have a commitment from Splendid and Susselbeek
Finally at the point I could wash the 71 GT before it goes back on the lift. Of course it would be on a rainy day
The Lipper GT is close to 2k final primer. Blocking out really nice. I will be complementing this restoration with probably the largest amount of NOS parts I have ever used on a restoration.
Round and round. Actually this 72 Blazer has actually seen going sideways twice in its life.
1972 Blazer is off the chassis and getting some much needed work done. A little change to our normal workload
Pre-Orders are closed for the defroster vents right now. MSRP is $150.00 a pair. Production is 10 days from now, and then I should be getting shipped the product, let’s say mid October. Message to place your pre-order
****PLEASE NOTE*****. This is a limited production run, I’ve invested in this to get these made, but once this run is finished, they will no longer be available.
These will be available from Opel GT Source and Splendid Parts soon
Samples arrived today for the Opel GT defroster vents. I received 2 pairs. So far so good. In fact, they went right in an original dashboard. No pushing, fighting or bending, pretty much plopped right in. I don’t think I could ask for better. There are a couple of small cutoff tabs that could be buffed out of the pieces, but that’s me being Uber critical. I feel they are a success. I’m probably going to have a small quantity assembled, but thinking to help on shipping I will have them shipped in pieces and then assemble here.
Sample defrost vents are on the way. Once I verify fit, the production will be ordered
Pulled the GT off the rotisserie to finish out the bodywork today.
1970 Red GT officially off to Arizona. Reliable Carriers come and picked it up Thursday. Was supposed to be Friday, but worked out even better
One mold and sample is finished for the defroster vent production. The second one is almost ready, then I will receive these samples for test fitting.
Interior going in the 71 Boss Mustang. Did a lot of work on these rear panels, the new ones were a lot of work too, but just did not fit right. I will see up the welt cord and should be close to installing
I don’t know how far I’ll go down this rabbit hole, as we already have air conditioning consoles. A little history, there was two styles of consoles used in the Opel GT, one was a company called ARA which our current a/c is inspired heavily by. Then there is a GM version, which has often been ridiculed as lopsided and bulky. There are few benefits to the design for a manufacturing perspective. It’s two piece, doesn’t need to be glued up and trimmed. It uses the original front console and shifter for the automatic (honestly this is the main reason I am considering this project), and it’s a bit shorter and would allow more space on the molding machine. So first thing I did is narrow down the base on the driver side, it hangs over on that side and I would argue more space is needed on that side anyways. Then I cut it down semi-strategically about an inch. Then I severely cut down the tower in front of the shifter. I don’t care what it looks like at this point, I’m just making it to where a mold can be pulled from the parts. Once the mold is made, I can carve and shape areas to refine in for final product.
1971 GT coming together, will be hitting it hard to get the windows in and panels on, so I can get the interior going. The dash is in and front windshield. Got the rear panels to install, carpet stuff it goes on and on. Lights are in as well
